Exam went okey, I thought it went GREAT up until I talked to a friend afterwards and she told me I totally missed out on part of the first question. My answer is still right and very detailed, but it wasn't structured the way the professor wanted it to be, so now I'm frustrated. I reread the question like 3 times and I still didn't SEE that? Am I blind? The human brain is a very strange thing. Anyway, on to the next one (don't mind me quoting Jay Z).
Outfit: yes, I did buy that dress in two colors. It is simply too pretty to pass up on, and SALES! I'm still not in that stage of life where I value quality over quantity I guess. Will I ever get there? I see all these bloggers set themselves goals of not buying anything the next year/month or making do with only 30 pieces of clothing over a certain period of time to "get back to basics". Maybe I should give that a try sometime, but I'm not there yet. I'm still perfectly content wearing whatever the hell I want and buying lots of cheap things that inspire me. What is your stance on the matter?
dress, shoes, tights: Zara (sales)
coat, bag: H&M
ring: Alex Monroe
PS: I just saw the The Suitcase episode from Mad Men season 4: SO GOOD. Peggy + Don as friends 4-eva!
And a little random: my movie recommendation of the day.
Master and Commander! One of my favorite movies. I don't know if I told you guys already, but I am crazy about those old classic wooden sailing ships. I love the romance and the escapism of going on a trip on one of those things, and when I was a little girl I always wanted to become a sailor. Maybe that's why I still love nautical fashion? Anyway, this movie probably isn't for everyone, but I love the realness of the characters and the sounds the ship makes. It doesn't sound very exciting, but it really pulls you into its universe, the atmosphere, the comradery between the men, it all feels very real and stripped to the basics of social interaction the way it probably was back then on a warship. And historical movies hardly ever get that "realness", they usually just blind you with melodrama and girls in corsets. Well, this movie doesn't even have any real female characters, so it has a whole different dynamic than most movies. So that's my recommendation for today!
And Paul Bettany is totally dreamy
He actually dyed his hair brown for his role in Master and Commander. Not a good idea. I have a HUGE and I mean HUUUUUGE soft spot for ginger boys. They are just a bit better than regular boys. Josh Homme is another one of my faves. Kevins (I've been in love with about 5 Kevins in my short life) and redheads are my major weaknesses.
I might try and do this movie recommendation every day. Do you guys think that's a good idea?
I am not planning on setting myself any clothing rules either - I try not to buy too much and to only get things I love, but I have no intention of going on a capsule wardrobe challenge or suchlike! Why should I limit something I enjoy so much?

ReplyDeleteoh that bag is gorgeous! and come on, we're young...lets blow our money away on cheap disposable fashion...it may fall apart after a few washes but we will have variety :)
ReplyDeleteand paul bettany is a god..i even sat through Wimbledon just for him haha. i must say i do like him as a blond though! :)
One: Love the dress! It reminds me of Mandy Moore's in 'I told you so". :):)
ReplyDeleteTwo: Yes on the movie recommendations. They are always wonderful :)
I hope that you did well on you exam despite the question mishap!!
Is the title of your post from the song, yeah3x??
ReplyDeleteBecause I REALLY love that song:)
You look so lovely! Perfect outfit:D
yaaaay for this dress, its gotta be one of my faves. i actually raided the racks at three zara stores in singapore trying to find it, sadly with no luck! im very much like you when it comes to shopping, buying more than i need and wearing only a few times, but ive planned to change that habit this year in order to save.

thanks for your reply :)
ReplyDeleteLovely dress!! I suppose sales are over now, boo just when I'm heading over there, better luck next time I guess.
hope you did well on the exam!
Super cute! The booties are great!
ReplyDeleteI do it the same way as you - why would I buy an expensive coat if I can get five dresses for the same price? :) Maybe when I grow older and start making money, I will have a different view on this matter :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally understand why you love Master & Commander - one of my most favourite TV series ever is Hornblower, with totally sexy Ioan Gruffudd <3
Have a nice day!
Love, Andrea

Oh, and the dress is just splendid, I would buy it in every single colour :)
ReplyDeleteGreat taste in dresses, and this one is so adorable that owning it in multiple colours is entirely necessary - I have the red one, and am considering going back to Zara for the brown! Also, if you love wooden sailing ship dramas, you should try Hornblower - series of UK made-for-TV movies about the Napoleonic war, and starring a swoon-worthy Ioan Gruffudd! A very lovely brown-haired boy :). xx
ReplyDeletewat een geweldige outfit! hele leuke jurk + jas! :D
ReplyDeleteSuuuuperleuke jurk! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd YES, you should do movie recommendations here!
Have a great WE!
I think you need to do what makes you happy. Yes you seem to buy a lot of clothes but you do wear them, combine them in hundreds of different ways and it works for you, and we obviously all love it as we keep coming back for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAnd one thing is true, if you find a truly FANTASTIC dress, you must get it in several colours, why not? Ive had that with a coupple of pieces, that are so good and so loved that I regret not getting them in several shades, and I am now a truly believer of doing that.
The movie recommendation thing gives you a funny "edge" so yes, keep them coming whenever you feel inspired.
Such a lovely dress! And I think the movie recommendation is a fabulous idea. I haven't seen anything similar anywhere else x
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's a great dress, I can see why you bought it in two colors. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks alot!!! I don´t think on Online Zara for buy it:) I try there.....
ReplyDeletePD:I foun Paul Bettany so so sexy, i love even when he was Silas ;-)
i love your bag and dress really lovely.

about the minimalistic trend in fashion: If there's minimalism going on right now in the fashion(blog)world, I HOPE it's not just a trend that's gonna flow over! I hope in time minimalism in fashion is gonna be another polaroid of what's going on in society! Yesterday a friend posted on his blog:
ReplyDelete"We are currently in the antithesis of the Modernistic Era, the Minimalistic Era, which places us in a transition to a new era, the synthesis of the Futuristic Era. Modernism began to expand around the 1930s, and was centered in the 1980s. Minimalism begins its expanse around the 2010s, to be centered in another few decades, upon which futurism begins to expand.
While the three seem similar, their approaches are quite opposed to one another. Modernism focusses on “more,” which is its slogan, while Minimalism focusses on “less.” Futurism, combining the two, will focus on “better.” Put another way, Modernism is effective, Minimalism cost-effective, and Futurism efficient.
Culturally, Modernism is energetic, Minimalism pure, Futurism, dynamic. Financially, Modernism is consumerist, Minimalism frugal, Futurism, investing. Sexually, Modernism is hypersexual, Minimalism asexual, Futurism, eusexual. Practically, Modernism is functional, Minimalism perfectionist, Futurism, progressive. Philosophically, Modernism is materialist, Minimalism cosmic humanist, Futurism, transhumanist."
Reading this, I can only hope he is sort of right and I can only hope that minimalism in fashion too is the necessary transition phase.. I'm all keen on the whole futuristic idea of quality killing quantity, and efficiency, translated to fashion: buying high-quality, unique, long-lasting garments that do not lose their ability to "reflect our personalities", because they are there to last and to be worn frequently. I fantasize, like, about japanese
dresses (kokerjurken), extremely beautiful and long-lasting coats, all personalized if you want to. Just stuff you can design and have made yourself! So no more BUY BUY BUY. But of course, that's just a (urh, fashionalized?) ideal, not really relevant right NOW. Anyway I'm saying YES to the minimalist, as opposed to the materialist approach :-D Wanna add I love the simplicity and recognizeability that characterizes.. well, fictional characters :-D I would love to see everyone as a fictionalized version of him/herself (that is, whoever he/she wants to be), but not in the cameleon way of today!
& I'm in for the movie recommendations/short personal notes on them, I mean, I'd read them!
x
