Clockwork Orange

Hi there! First I want to thank you guys for your feedback on my blogger dilemma. I'm superglad you all think my blog is fine as it is. I think I prefer it this way too, some blogs that only share like 3 lines of text and 1 picture are quite interesting and "mysterious", but the blogger will feel more like some self important celebrity instead of a "real girl". I just want to be an approachable chick, I want all my readers to feel like I'm some sort of distant friend. I'm not a celebrity, I'm not a professional, I'm just a girl having fun blogging and dressing up! If anyone ever has a problem, a styling problem or even a personal issue: you can talk to me. I'm serious. And I love you all for checking in with me every day and taking the time to post me a comment!

About my outfit: I wanted to wear some color, and I wanted to give this paisley skirt another whirl, and I saw this old A Clockwork Orange t-shirt lying on the floor in my closet and I was like DAYUM where have you been, come here you cute little vibrant intellectual top! I love it with this skirt. Whenever I put on a midi skirt, I try to find a way to keep it from becoming too dowdy and granny by striving for some sort of girly youth in the styling. By pairing a longer skirtlength with a simple t-shirt, you distance yourself from grandma comparisons. Another good idea is to wear these with any kind of statement footwear: converse, chunky platforms, printed wedges, pumps with a bow, wingtip brogues etcetera. And keep your hair messy! Nothing keeps you looking like Alexa Chung rather than your nan than having scruffy hair. Unless you have it in one of those scruffy, half undone buns. If you pair that with a longer skirt, a statement t-shirt and weird shoes people will just think you look like the crazy catlady from around the corner.
It really isn't easy getting fashion right, is it? But that's what keeps it interesting. I like looking a bit ridiculous from time to time.

That's why I concluded my picture taking for today with some silly faces

I sort of look like some of those crazy ANTM contestants in this picture, no?

MOVIE RECOMMENDATION OF THE DAY: A Clockwork Orange

The fact that Malcolm McDowell is in this movie should be enough of a pointer on its own that this movie is CRAYZAY, but these screenshots probably set the mood as well. I saw the movie before I read the book, and after reading it I can honestly say the movie is better (the book ending sucked). This is yet another recommendation of mine that isn't for the faint at hearted, but if you think you can handle a bit of the ol' ultraviolence, Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou! I'll stop quoting now. For those among you that are wordlovers like me: both the book and the movie are full of creative language. The images and the use of music is very modern and memorable as well, but it's the performance of Malcolm and the story that really rip its way to your soul: this movie is about a REAL out of control teenager that gets brainwashed by the government, and it's set in some kind of dystopian future.

It's a classic everyone should see at some point in their life, if they can stomach it. Probably one of my alltime favorites. Movies that are as out there as this one never really feel dated, because they were already weird at the time they came out!

  5. This is my favorite blog post so far for the reason that I love the book but I have not seen the movie yet. I usually think screen adaptations spoil the book and second I have not seen a copy of the movie here. I know this can be downloaded but I got no patience in downloading movies. Haha!

Love your skirt and you still manage to look pretty even with those silly faces. :)

  7. Love the way you kept everything from the tights to your top all within the same sort of color family (or something like that).
The fact that you keep things personal and not so "mysterious" is one of the reasons your blog is one of my favorite to read. It's much more relatable and interesting. Keep up the ah-mazing work! :)

  8. I really love your blog the way it is and I think blogging is all about having a personal outlet and being yourself!

This shirt with this skirt is just perfect, although I might have never thought of putting them together (thanks for the inspiration!), it looks amazing! And includes a movie element, which in my book is always winner :)

I love A Clockwork Orange too and think Stanley Kubrick is a genius (just watched Eyes Wide Shot last night... for like the 10th time!). What a great movie suggestion.

  23. Love this orange look sooo pretty! and so Dutch too ;)
You see, Clockwork Orange is one of those few books that shook my insides out..I couldn't get past the first violent scene it describes. The language and narrative are so powerful that it makes for a very visual reading, so I failed to continue, it just got to me. I haven't braved the movie either...
