After a few weeks of mild temperatures, we're right back in the middle of winter again. Don't get me wrong, I loved the early spring feeling, but I'm quite glad I can get a bit more wear out of my knitwear now! I love this cropped cable knit jumper I got at New Look a while back, it's perfect with all my high waisted midi skirts. I wore it layered over a floral dress this time, and I quite like the result! It feels quite british for some reason. It might be the bowler hat, haha! I've just spent some time giving myself my very first "professional" manicure. By professional manicure I mean I did a fancy ass nailpolish job instead of just painting them in one solid color. I followed one of those space nail tutorials I found on youtube, which was really surprisingly easy and it looks GREAT even if you mess it up. I messed it up slightly by dabbing on too much of the lighter color, so it doesn't REALLY look like outer space, but it still looks neat! I'll show you my nails tomorrow, and I might do a step by step tutorial myself :) It really is super easy. If I can do it anyone can, because I'm really an amateur at the whole beauty game.
I just wrote another article for EIU on transitional winter-spring dressing, read it here and let me know what you think! It isn't the greatest piece I've written, but it does contain quite a few practical tips. I always love fashion from a practical point of view: I'm not really into trends or designers, but I love the fun aspect of it, being inspired by a certain feel, and translating it into practical day to day wear.
Seeing these pics made me realize I REALLY need a haircut. I'm calling for an appointment tomorrow. I'm still going back and forth in my mind about getting an ombre dye job on my ends to get an Alexa Chung-esque hairdo. What do you think? Will it suit my style, or am I better of with this solid color hair I have now? Once I bleach my hair, I'll have to grow it out to get my real haircolor again. And I'd like it not to look TOO artificial. Some lighter bits here and there, but not a REAL drastic difference in color. This looks perfect:
The range of color in these pics is perfect, not too light and somewhere inbetween a natural, sunfaded look and obvious bleached ends. Should I go for it?

Thank you for your totally sweet, long and thoughtful comment! I was delighted to read it and it really made my day. Your blog title is completely amazing. I really like this outfit, the florals are sweet, the sweater looks warm and cozy, and the shoes are perfect (they look vintage, are they?) Alexa Chung has a great look with the light tips, and if you want to go for it. I think your hair is a lovely color now though! http://thearcenciel.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletecan't wait for your new hairstyle! :)
ReplyDeleteooh cant wait to see the new hair, i adore both alexa and rachel and their hair, so im sure this look can do no wrong! also adorable outfit as always. even if it is winter, it still seems like a lovely spring look to me :)
ReplyDeleteLove the hat! And I totally think you should go for it with your hair. I'm contemplating a big hair change as well so I know the anxiety it can cause pondering your options but the worst thing that will happen is that you won't like it and then it will change/grow out. So really, that's not that bad!

You can totally rock the ombre hairstyle. And I am loving the cropped sweater over the floral dress. It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOooh great idea with the leggings! I am sooo horribly bad at manicures, even after watching hours on youtube!

ReplyDeleteI totally love your shoes! And the whole outfit is so girlish and playful <3 Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this ombre trend and I think you look lovely with your hair like this, but if you want some change, why not? :)
ReplyDeleteLove, Andrea
OMG so beautifoul!!!! Really thso outfit really likes me so great!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso I love alexa :)
hugs honey!!
Yes, Yes, Go for Alexa Chung!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit by the way!!! The layers are lovely and adore your bowler hat!
The "Alexa" could look very nice on you, it's a change, and as changes go, it's always risky, but if we don't play around with our hair and colours now, when are we going to do it? Just make sure your colour technician knows what he/she is doing and enjoooooy!
ReplyDeleteWill be checking out your post on your nails as mine need some inspiration :S
To be honest with you, to me the Ombre look looks just like someone growing out dyed hair, I never really liked it, but that's just my opinion. I am though always excited to try new hair looks (I do dye my hair)so can't wait to see what you do.
