Just another point to prove how random my getting dressed routine is in the mornings: I stay in my warm bathroom for as long as possible before having to prance around in the cold hallway and my equally cold bedroom, browsing my closet for some inspiration. Most smart people lay out their outfits the night before, but I'm one of those morons that don't know what they'll want to look like in the morning. So I hop around, desperate for an epiphany. Usually I run to my tights drawer first, because they are basically a necessity in the cold wintermonths. Now, this is probably too much information, but this day I felt sexy so I wore my stockings with garters. And stockings with garters go with ladylike skirts, so I grabbed this one because I hadn't worn it in a while. Then I stumbled over to my tops, saw my favorite denim shirt, buttoned it halfway up. Ran back into the bathroom to warm up a bit, and my eye was caught by cute little bow adorned hairpins I had bought at H&M a while back. I thought "hey, those would look cute as a pretend bow tie with my shirt buttoned all the way up!" so that's what I ended up wearing! First cardigan I saw was added for warmth, and here I am.
This is basically the way I get dressed every morning. Haphazardly is an understatement.
shirt: Zara
skirt: vintage (T2)
hairpin worn as bow tie, cardigan: H&M
shoes: Sac D'Anvers
watch: ASOS
belt: Pimkie
PS: right after I took these pictures, I was goofing around with my boyfriend and accidentally kicked him in the heel of his shoe. The toenail on my thumbtoe (don't pretend like you don't call it that from time to time) ripped and folded back. Found out about that when I took off my socks because it hurt like a motherfucker, and it didn't look pretty. Blood, bruising and general yukkiness. We still had to do our weekend groceryshopping so I limped around the store. It probably looked a lot funnier than it felt.
cute bow :)
ReplyDeleteHoe mooi met dat strikje ! instant 'schattigheid' xx
ReplyDeleteI love this! How creative to use the hairpin as a bowtie :D
ReplyDeleteHaha your morning dressing routine actually sounds a lot like mine! I usually fall asleep coming up with a general idea of what I might wear, and tweak it in the morning, often to something completely different than what I planned!

What a cute, mischievous outfit... it's like sexy secretary-chic... Love the combination!

That bow tie (hair pin) is so fun and adorable...great idea! i also dress in the same way...i like to play the game "how long will the taxi driver wait for me to get dressed before driving off" i literally put it off to the very last second before i have to leave the house to decide what to wear. it's incredibly stressful and i don't know why i do it to myself haha. but i actually think outfits always seem to work best when they're not planned and you have to think them up on the spot, and all your outfits seem to be the perfect examples :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pairing of that denim shirt with the bow tie! So cute on you!
ReplyDeleteLa Petite Marmoset
i love how you can pull off these "haphazard" looks! it's your signature thing! i think the skirt is definitely sexy.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit!
ReplyDeleteand OUCH...your poor thumbtoe :(

Looking saucy! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much my dressing routine too... I NEVER know what I will want to wear... but I try to take the blame off my shoulders and blame the weather for it!
It's really cool that you wear stockings and garter belts... I would feel unexplainably awkward... but I can wear bow-ties any day ;)
Hope your toe feels better soon... been there, done that... it will heal eventually...
so good! love that skirt and bowtie
ReplyDeleteomg your poor toe :( hope it heals soon. love the bow tie idea :) im not much of a prepare outfits person either, i always change my mind

Aaaauuwww!

argh! that sounded so painful! i had my own similar experience and the pain was really excruciating! love you skirt and top btw. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're the best in making an actually ladylike and grown-up outfit into a fun and girly thing! This is so perfectly cute! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so sorry about your nail, this sounded really horrible!! My toenail even hurted while reading this ^^
Such a great outfit (love the little bowtie), and looking at it you would never guess that it just took you a few minutes to put together! Hope your toe is doing better, because that sounded horribly painful.
ReplyDeleteouch ouch ouch Annebeth, how painful is that. Now i see you rocking a bow tie I kick myself after not buying the one i saw in T2 this saturday, it's fuchsia, soooo pretty, maybe you should get it and make me jealous, as per usual? :):)
ReplyDeleteHope your toe (thumbtoe hehe) is better xxx
Love this look so much - especially the little bowtie! Sally x
ReplyDeleteSuperleuke outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteYES the bow-tie! I have one that I have yet to style up, so glad you did!
ReplyDeleteYeah, cold hallways and bedrooms suck :(
Eeeeek, that story just made me feel a little queezy :( I hope it's healing now though? Love the shoes and the skirt, very ladylike indeed xxx
ReplyDeleteOuch ouch ouch. I hope you're okay! I lost the toenail on my big toe (I've never heard of "thumbtoe"...where've I been?!) once and it took like, a year to grow back. Gross!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit, though, as always. I can appreciate your getting dressed routine. I'm so scattered in the morning I usually just grab what's clean and visible and am on my way. Luckily, it usually works (but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder)!
Yikes that must have hurt! Hope it feels better now.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading the story of this outfit and I'd suggest you do that whenever you have a little story to tell about your outfits, it's so cute and interesting. I usually know what I'm going to wear beforehand but there are also times when I just pick something and I build a whole outfit around it.
I can't wear stocking with garters outside, feel like it's showing and I'm sending the wrong message. Stupid I know!!! xxx

Your morning routine sounds so much like mine...I wouldn't have it any other way. Isn't fashion all about inspiration and whimsy? My outfits come out so much better when I'm grabbing stuff in the morning. I can never quite understand the appeal of laying out an outfit, because as you said, I have no idea what I'll want to look like the next day.
