Cover Up Sister!

This dress almost reminds me of vintage playsuits/swimsuits. Everyone who's been reading my tumblr knows that I keep drooling over vintage beach/swimwear/leisure style pictures, so this piece is really ticking all of my boxes. Perfect summerwear! This was two days ago by the way, the weather is S.U.C.K.Y. Rain, cold, storm, just major suckage. Sigh. I'm sick of nagging about the weather and I bet you guys are sick of me weather-nagging too! :-D

Still loving my headscarf experiments! I didn't wear this particular tying method out of the house because it felt a bit much with the sunnies and clogs. Also because I already felt really "HEY LOOK AT ME" wearing this very bare dress.

I've become such a pussy concerning baring any flesh since I've gotten into more modest retro dressing and lowering my hemlines! I really felt naked wearing this dress, so I could do without a scarf and a bow on my head directing even more attention to my bare bod'. Am I being ridiculous if I don't mind people looking at me when I'm wearing outlandish outfits, but I hate it when people notice my nudity? I'm becoming such a prude! :-D

Maybe it's just my age, but I prefer it when people look at my face when I walk by, not my boobs or my legs... I used to love being noticed sexually when I was in my late teens, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable now. Which is weird, because I actually love my body a lot more now than I used to back then! I guess I don't need the validation anymore, I self-validate quite enough by taking my picture everyday! :-D

I'd wear this to the beach or to chill in my backyard, but I'd need a cardigan or a jacket to feel comfortable wearing it anywhere else.

Where do you draw the nudity line? :-D

dress: Zara
clogs: Lotta from Stockholm
headscarf: T2 vintage
sunnies: Claire's

  1. This dress is soooo beautiful! I love the fit of it, it's so pretty. Perfect for a hot summers day. I much prefer people to be looking at my face rather than my "assets" haha. I enjoy your headscarf experimentation it's great

  4. Adorable dress! I don't think it's too "nude" at all, but I can see where you are coming from. I have a few dresses with cut outs in the back and I definitely feel more self-conscious wearing them out. I also don't usually like wearing things that are sleeveless, but I think that is more a self-esteem issue, and also an issue of appropriateness at work.

  6. Awww that dress is gorgeous, I love the detail on the neck and at the back! I don't know about the whole "baring flesh" thing, as long as I feel comfortable and I don't feel like I'm pulling my top up/skirt down then I'm good. It depends if I'm in a self concious mood or a fat mood to be honest haha :)

  8. I love this dress on you and your headscarf as well- both are adorable! Hmm, interesting question you ask- I think I am still in the phase where I don't mind showing some skin and just ignoring uncomfortable stares and such. With the heat we're having here, it's really hard to want to even put on clothes in the morning! One thing I've noticed is that if I'm in a more revealing outfit, I feel more comfortable if I have a friend with me because then I'm totally distracted and can completely tune out any weirdos/creepos. I guess I'm saying that I like to bare some skin but I don't like the unwanted attention that sometimes comes along with that!

  9. in the warmer weather im very conscious of my hemlines too lol!!! i do love this dress though and i dont think its too baring at all. i agree with you that its a getting older thing and not wanting to be noticed for your body so much, self validation is much better anyway :)

  10. That dress is super adorable! I don't think it's too bare at all. Everything that's supposed to be contained is contained! I really love the print and color of that dress and the red shoes are perfect with it.

  14. Hmm, I can relate! Ik heb tegenwoordig ook vaker de nood aan meer bedekking tov vroeger (die wilde tienerjaren toch) omdat ik mij daar nu beter in voel. Hoewel ik dit best wel ok vind qua lengte en "blootheid" :)

  15. damn woman you look goood. Its so shitty how that kind of attention makes us feel crap these days. I hate it. It can ruin my whole day. I feel way more confident with a friend or my man but if I am by my self forget it. I take it you have seen WAR ZONE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHIW9iRMSqY

  16. First of all, if u live in BE u are a weather nagger. How can't u not nag when it's freaking cold in the middle of the summer?!

U surprised me with ur confession there. I guess I draw my nudity line way further than u :) In my opinion this is a normal length summer dress. I must admit I have much shorter dresses and skirts in my wardrobe. But I rarely wear short items without tights.
On other hand I rarely wear a cleavage. There's not much to show and I just don't own much garments that include one.

  17. I love the scarf! Should've worn it out!

I have public nudity issues (hehe) but I always think it's as a result of having lived in Mexico and having residual trauma from men staring/commenting all the time. So now I save my more nudie outfits for when I'm out with my boyfriend, figuring that people may look, but they won't say anything if he's there. Which is kind of ridiculous, but there you go.

The weather blows. Literarlly. The wind nearly blew my bicycle over while I was riding it earlier.

  21. I have less issue with bare legs than I do with a bare chest area. I have a slightly larger bosom and I feel absolutely naked if I show more than a little cleavage. And anything that leaves my shoulders bare, also oddly makes me feel naked. But so long as I can safely bend over in a skirt/dress, I'll wear 'em as short as that hah.
