My petticoat arrived!!!!! Aaaaaah I'm telling you, I have hardly ever been so in love with a garment as with this crinoline. I was so excited to pick it up at the post office when I had gotten notice of its arrive, and after I hurried home to open my package, I was reminded of the reason I love tumblr so much:
The prettiest little card to thank me for my purchase! Totally appropriate for my petticoat as well, and it had me lusting after that beautiful pink dress in the picture :) Check out the shop where I got it here!
Of course I'm going to be wearing it with all my retro full skirted dresses NON STOP (check out my twitter feed for some pics of it under one of my vintage dresses), but I wanted to let it take center stage in an outfit post before I'd use it as an undergarment. The frothy fulness is just too pretty to hide!
My styling today might look familiar to some of you. Every once in a while, even a non-designerlover like yours truly finds herself enamored with a collection. Moschino's 2012 resort collection was love at first sight for me: the sweet colors, the detailed put-togetherness of the styling, the pairing of prissy retro garments with relaxed hair and practical flats: all of it was very much Alexa-esque, but with a bit more Mad Men sprinkled on top. Basically my dream collection, yep. There was one look that REALLY stood out to me, people that follow my tumblr have probably seen it being reblogged about 5 times since I reblog it EVERY time I see it on my dashboard.
Sweet, lovely perfection. I knew I had to try and recreate it the moment I laid eyes on this silhouette, so I did! My hair was a quicky and my cardigan and sandals aren't nearly as pretty, but I'm still pretty glad with how this one turned out.
Also, I got picked as chictopia's main frontpage picture again today, so my day was AWESOME! I had never gotten that privilege until a week ago and now I got it twice, so I guess I'm doing something right :-) hope your day was at least as great as mine, babes!
cardigan: COS
skirt: Etsy, Flossystreasures
sandals: Sac d'Anvers
glasses: Pimkie
PS: see that weird grey-orange glove lying there in the grass outside my window? My cat dragged it in the yard. My stupid cat is a hoarder, it goes around the neighborhood stealing stuff and bringing it home. Once, it brought a chocolate bunny rabit. Seriously.
of course you are doing something righ! you have style! a specific style and a very personal fashion identity! love it! always was a big fan of peti coats, but not my style! have to try that someday! love your personal style and poses! gorgeous girl

I love petticoats. I used to nag my mum's ears off for a petticoat when I was little. Never got one though. Oh, and I really like the nerdiness in these pics!

ReplyDeleteThat petticoat would be perfect underneath all your dresses. I think it's really cool that you got one, because petticoats are definitely not a garment that most women bother to wear nowadays :) And congrats on being featured on the front page of Chictopia!

ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of this look. I think I've reblogged it from you every time I've seen it, haha :) I really want to wear my cardigans backwards now!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would like to comment on the adorableness of your cat hoarding and share a story of my own... we used to have a dog, Midas, and he got loose in our neighborhood one Sunday. Our neighbors were in contact with each other over the peculiarity of not receiving a newspaper. I'm pretty sure someone called the delivery company up and had another round delivered, but later in the day, my mom found an entire neighborhood's worth of newspapers in our backyard!
