Loads of photo's coming up! Sunny weather ALWAYS makes me trigger happy with the camera. I figured my hair finally got long enough to try that whole milkmaid braids hairdo, so I let that inspire me when getting dressed! Sweet, clean, fresh and ready to roll in a haystack.
And a last notice before reading: I sort of screwed up with resizing, so I'm sorry all my pictures seem to be differentsized, haha
My boyfriend hates my "Heidi hair" as he calls it, but I love it. I can't hide my Dutch milkmaid roots, y'all!
This chick is totally on trend with that chic primary colorblocking outfit! And is that hat Stephen Jones?
All kidding aside, I think I'll always have a love for farm-inspired fashion. Clogs hit home for me for that reason, and who can say no to rosey cheeks and perfectly disheveled hair? I'm pretty sure that our childhood influences our aesthetics. I grew up in a typical farming village, and I still miss the smell of manure from time to time. I'm only slightly kidding. Whenever I get homesick, I look at these pictures my sister took.

PS: this is what my hair looked like after the braids.
LOVE
PS: for those asking about a tutorial on the hair, I just messily parted my hair in the back (more to one side so I had two equal parts of hair, since I have a side parting) and braided it like this. Then I just fastened the braids with rubber bands and pinned both of them to the back of my head with bobby pins, easy peasy! Let me know if you need a clearer explanation :D
wow pretty dress
ReplyDeletecute glasses
i love your hair and the summery look!
ReplyDeletexoxo
your dress and shoes just got me super excited.
ReplyDeletedo you have a tutorial for your hair? yours is a similar length to mine so i just got all excited about doing this myself!!

what a summer look. love love love your hair, it looks so perfect with that adorable precious dress. after of before, i love this hombre look (or how do they call it??). well i love how to take the farm theme to a whole different level. the print of the dress is so latent, and i like that. the clogs are the perfect finishing touch. PS used you as an inspiration, i love your pictures in the garden, so I also used my garden!!
ReplyDeleteoh gosh i love your hair this way, silly boyfriend. it looks amazing, your farm looks so pretty too.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of your hair are so awesome. I love braiding my hair up when it's dirty!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think background plays a part in wardrobe. I have a thing for flannel shirts like my dad used to wear, and cowboy boots because my dad bought them for me when I was little!
Ahhh je haar! Zo gaaf! Staat je ontzettend mooi! Eat jurkje is echt oneindig schattig gewoon. Super leuk!

*En dat (sorry typo!)
ReplyDeletelove this whole look especially those heart shaped glasses
ReplyDeleteJe haar is kei leuk ! Hoe doe je dat ? (mijn haar heeft dezelfde lengte als jou dus ik wil het uitproberen :p)
ReplyDeleteKnappe jurk ook !

Love it! That dress is gorgeous, and your hair looks so sweet like that!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure yet if where I grew up has affected my style, but the way I was raised definitely did: no matter how zany the combinations, my mama let me choose my outfits as soon as I was old enough to care (probably age three) and I've been developing my look since then!
The pictures your sister took are gorgeous! And the witty comments about the milkmaid painting are spot-on ;)
M xo
Ok tortoise shell heart glasses? LURVE! I have red and white ones (although I may have misplaced my red pair) but the brown is super cool. You look great!
ReplyDeleteAdore this dress... there were a lot of swallow print dresses around last year, but this one is exceptionally nice. Also, the fact that you've gotten your hair to do this suggests that my slightly longer hair might cooperate too.
ReplyDeleteAre you Dutch then? My background definitely influences my style. I have a built in love for what I would consider traditional Canadian clothes, from lumber-jack shirts to wooly hats to Hudson Bay coats, and I also like the thick wool sweaters and frumpy skirts I associate with Yorkshire in England, where my dad is from. And I'd say I'm definitely influenced by the fact that no one in my family was rich!
Although I guess the name of your blog was a dead giveaway, I think I just assumed you were Flemish Belgian. I'll stop speculating before I embarrass myself further!
ReplyDeleteI loooove this outfit and your hair! You look so amazing :D Psh, what do boyfriends know about hair anyway ;)

Your hair is too cute for words. I still haven't mastered that style yet, though I love to see it on others. It looks perfect with your little sun dress and heart shaped sunnies. Super sweet!
ReplyDeleteI'm 1/2 Irish, but I think I'm more influenced by the tiny bit of Cherokee Indian I have in my blood.
XOXO
what a carefree and effortlessly cool spring look! Love it! And what lip color/brand are you using? I usually stick to lipstains/tinted lipbalms but yours looks very pretty and light!
ReplyDeleteLidi @ Eclectic Flair
love the milkbraids and i equally love your hair after the braids too! i sooo need to re-ombre my hair.
ReplyDeleteI love this look! The hair is awesome and the dress is completely dreamy. You are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVirginie
This look is SOOOO perfect for summer. That dress is a dream and your braid suite this look soo well. I love countryesque looks for summer, so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour sisters photos are gorgeous too.

Those pictures make me so nostalgic! I studied abroad in Amsterdam for six months in 2007-2008 and I miss the unique Dutch clouds like I can't explain. I think my time there really influenced my own style, so I'm not surprised that you draw on your roots for inspiration, too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha such a great example of color blocking indeed. I love your hair and those shades! I tried to experiment with some braids this morning but got discouraged... so props to you.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

You're like a fresh breath of spring! Love the dress. You look so adorable in that first pic.
ReplyDeleteyou're little miss sunshine! you look like a darling with all the photos. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite look by far from you!! Love everything down to the milk braids:) Does your bf find them to be too young looking? My husband hates it when I wear braided pigtails.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks absolutely adorable this way, I am so in love with milkbraids. And this dress is perfect, the pattern is too cute.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is lovely, but I really love how you styled your hair ~ very adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love this relaxed, summery outfit and all the photos! Great print on the dress, and your heart sunglasses always look so cute.
ReplyDeleteAh, your hair looks great like that! And afterward! Seriously. For some reason I've been letting my hair grow, but it's still not long enough to actually do anything.
ReplyDeletexox
These are gorgeous! You remind me of Dominique Swain in Lolita. Also I love your ring!
ReplyDeletex
OMG, i love your hair! I want a video tutorial about it! i always thought my hair would be too short to make these kind of braids... but i think i have more or less the same length as you! Great look!
ReplyDeleteI saw flowers like that the other day and your ring immediately popped into my head. I think I spend a bit too much time blogging. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!!

your milkbraids look so so adorable and i love that dress!!!

Cute dress!

Leuk haar!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I absolutely cannot stand the smell of manure. You're such a silly :D
ReplyDeleteI love your milkmaid braids and your tortoiseshell heart sunnies and your pretty bird print dress and your little heart ring and...
Get the idea? you look so springy and gorgeous :D
xoxo
Love the hair, not sure my boyfriend "gets" it either! I adore your sandals, where are they from? lovely outfit anyway :) xx
ReplyDeletei would say this is more of a lolita-esque outfit than a milkmaid one ;) milkmaid would probably want to cover her shoulders with a throw/spiderweb knitted scarf from that harsh sun in the field... but those glasses definitely remind me of lolitas ;) in any case, you look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress & how the hair looks after the braids :) but what I love even more is that we're going to Germany tomorrow with belmodoooooooooooooo!

I adore your so called Heid hair. Your wedges look great too!
ReplyDeleteJe haar zit echt heel erg leuk! Ik vind je jurkje ook heel lief!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks fabulous and I love that dress paired with those shoes. Sweet all around!
ReplyDeleteLOVE how you and I are rocking the same hairdo today :)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is simply amazeballs and I want it!!!!! soooo adorable, and the shape is perfection.
Your sister is such a talented lady, by the way, those clouds look supernatural in the second picture.
Love the dress! I wonder why I never find dresses like that :)
ReplyDeleteBTW did you let your hair grow out? I can see some lighter ends?
I have a post about growing my hair out on my blog. Still doubting. Check my post and give me your opinion ;)

I love your dress!!
ReplyDeleteThe braids are super cute on you! I do something similar except since my hair is so long, they're more of a braid bandeau hah.
ReplyDeleteSupertof kleedje en je haren zijn supermooi zo!
ReplyDeleteI love the milkmaid braid on you! I want to try out with some ribbon :)
ReplyDeleteLa Petite Marmoset
Beautiful! I am so impressed with your braiding skills. I wish you could come and show me the ways because I am really really bad at braiding my own hair :-) Love that dress as well! Sweet pattern and even sweeter design! xoxo And your sister is an amazing photographer- very stunning images.
ReplyDeletethis is so pretty! you are so wonderful. and i adore your hair with the braids, AND after too!
ReplyDeletevery cute. now this is a real hairstyle instead of how everyone else tends to do milkbraids.
