Ok so I'm sure this technically doesn't qualify as colorblocking at all, but I'm wearing three clashing colors (including my nails) AND bright lipstick (even though you can't really tell in these pics), so this is as colorblocked you'll see me getting. I'm not a huge fan of the trend, just piling on bright colors randomly seems so lazy. I prefer a more muted, sophisticated colorpalette with dusty colors, pastels and brights mixed together. Emma did a great post on colorblocking a while ago, I REALLY liked the colors she put together! Check out her collages here and be inspired!
These are the only non-legging pants I actually have in my regular wear wardrobe. I find the stark black on white plaid quite hard to style, and I hardly ever find tops that I actually like with these pants, so I don't know why I keep coming back to them but I do! They have this lovely Gwen Stefani punk side mixed with this late fifties housewife vibe, which seems to make a hybrid lovechild that sings sweet songs to my heart. The bright colors paired with the preppy plaid remind me of Clueless and Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, so there you have my deep, intellectual analysis of this outfit! You can sum it up as cutesy with rough edges. It also reminds me a bit of something cute I'd wear to sleep in, but we'll keep quiet about that one.
trousers: Zara
top: H&M

I kinda love how my hair looks like a mullet in that second to last pic.
I LOOOVE those shoes!!! gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteLove it, so classic in spite of the bright colours! I definitely get a 50s-60s-housewife-on-the=weekend vibe ;)
ReplyDeleteM xo

This is really cute. I really like those pants a lot! I'm trying to get my tall best friend to start wearing patterned pants. It hasn't taken with her yet.

Your shoes are quite striking...I just adore your whole outfit!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I prefer the bigger photos and I love the bow detail on your top. Happy weekend, Annebeth! :)
ReplyDeletethe pants made me think sort of think of gwen stefani at first with mix of this one episode of i love lucy haha.
ReplyDeleteseriously loving your shoes! they're fantastic!!
You have the best shoes you must have every colour of the rainbow.
ReplyDeleteI never wanted purple shoes before, but seriously these sandals are so great. Now I want some. And about your cat print dress from the other day, of course it got extra comments. The rule of the internet is that adding cats to anything automatically makes it at least twice as popular. Cats win the internet. Always.
ReplyDeletePANTS! I love them. I can't do color-blocking either. Unless you consider solid navy and black color blocking. I have too many prints. Solid colors kind of bore me....
ReplyDeleteoh girl; those pants are very very hard to wear, the print is so tricky. but again, it fits like a glove. the length is perfect an i love the black and white color. the shoes are amazing. they really pop up and i love the deep purple. the little detail around your neck looks like a petite necklace, so cute
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those trousers! x
ReplyDeleteits a good way of getting on the colour block train without going over the top and losing your style, thanks for mentioning my post in this :) and i still love that nailpolish
ReplyDeletei think the look is fun! i love the pants too! you are so good at making these mixes work!
ReplyDeleteDe sandaaltjes zijn zo cute! Lopen ze een beetje lekker? De broek is awesome. En van welk euh.. merk is die lichtblauwe nagellak? Catrice?
ReplyDeletedat shirtje is echt geweldig!
ReplyDeletevind het leuk dat je altijd zoveel foto's maakt :)
ik sta echt nooit leuk op foto's haha!
xoxo
I love the polish color on your toes!
ReplyDeleteI think you've pulled it off :) I'm not too on board with the trend either to be honest.. by the way thanks for your lovely comment xx
ReplyDeleteYou look so ready to go for a Springtime romp! As I said on Chictopia, this is super 60's to me. All you need is a moped. Moped? I hope I spelled that right. Pastels are always friends... which is why I dig that peach sweater and your purple shoes/nails in a big way... those slacks are magical.
ReplyDeleteLove the foot close up - because the nail varnish with the purple shoes (which are awesome btw) looks great :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit!
I think your shoes and nail polish color are super cute. The pants look great on you! I'm sure you have some cute band t-shirts that would look good with the pants as well.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
I would totally wear these pants if I had such slim legs... though I agree, plaid can be awkward to style other things with.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about colour-blocking. I think my favourite incarnation is when it's done in a 60s, Mondrion-style-dress kind of way.
i love the pants so much! actually, the whole look is marvelous
ReplyDeletelove the pants
ReplyDeleteloving ur looks again! and I thought I had a lot of clothes.... guess I was so very wrong :)
