Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Hairstraightener

Hi! So! I! Was sent over the Remington Keratin Therapy Pro Hairstraightener to review, and since I have never used a straightener to actually straighten my hair (did use one for curls and waves but I sucked at it) I was a bit apprehensive to try it. I mean, I have very straight hair to begin with. I'm actually all about a bit of life and mess and wave in my hair, which I sadly don't have. And since my ends are bleached, I'm very careful about not inflicting even more damage on them.

However, this straightener promises some shiz about being up to 57% less damaging (how do they even measure stuff like that?) because of its keratin coated irons, so I have to admit that my curiosity was peaked. Also, I used to be way into Avril Lavigne's stick straight tresses back when I was in high school, so maybe this straightening deal would turn out kinda cool? READ ON FOR THE EXCITING CONCLUSION

The contents of the box: a heat resistant pouch (practical for travel), an instruction booklet and the straightener. Apparently, the black strip on the upper iron is a sensor that claims to protect your hair from over-heating and the resulting damage. Also, this straightener is supposed to be used on towel-damp hair and should lock the moisture in your hair while you're using it. LET'S FIND OUT K

Let me demonstrate the flexibility of the upper iron with a high tech, ultra modern gif!

I can vouch for the fact that this flexibility makes the straightener glide through your locks more smoothly, because it evens out the pressure you put on your hair.

The heat can be set at 160, 180, 200, 220 or 230°C. I chose the lowest heat because I have fine hair and didn't want to damage it, obvi. It took about 10 seconds to reach the desired heat: PRESTO!

This is my hair pre-straightening. I had just washed and conditioned it, and combed out the tangles. My hair was mostly dry but still quite damp in sections.

After straightening the left side of my hair (your left). Sorry for the crappy pic! You're probably thinking that the difference isn't huge, but look at this close up.

Just check out the difference between the straightened right side and the unstraightened left side! This keratin thing really does seem to have a very noticeable effect.

And this is after straightening all of the hairz. Just compare it with my first picture to notice the differents: my ends are a lot smoother and neater.

And this is after parting my hair to the side. I thought it was remarkably shiny and smooth, moreso than without straightening. However, I have noticed that my hair tangled a lot more in the days after using the straightener, so it must have dried out my hair despite its claims.

End verdict: a very good hair straightener that is extremely easy to use and will give your hair a lovely, neat and healthy look. Possibly not as damaging as a normal straightener, but I still noticed dry ends. I give it 4 out of 5 STYLING STARS (lolz).

Do you use a straightener? Why/why not? And was this review of any use to you? I'm not an experienced beauty blogger ya know!

  5. OOO I need to try mine out ASAP! I'll be curling my hair with it instead of straightening it. Mine is naturally straight, so seeing straight hair on myself just isn't too exciting ;) You on the other hand, ROCK it! Looks so nicely done!

  6. but my hair is straight on its own too! I WANT CURLS! but straightening iron curls really always fail if I try them :(

  7. Handig! Thanks for the review lady

Door mijn stijltang wordt m'n haar veel handelbaarder, and that's how hair should be.

    Gif's zijn trouwens übercool.
