Christmas Tree!

Ok first of all, the outfit I wore when decoration the Christmas tree, and THEN the pièce de résistance: le tree. I was completely prepared for the task in my festive socks, white-red-green outfit and euhm overall holiday appropriate mood! The tree is a slow growth import from Denmark apparently. I have like zero arboratory knowledge, but I can tell you the needles are a lot longer, thicker and softer than the trees we usually bring in for Christmas. And it's purdy and shiz! My boyfriend didn't screw up like last year when we had to cut off  a third of the tree just to fit it into our living room.

Anyway first my outfit! Feels very Scandinavian, which rocks. I love Scandinavian style, perfect Christmassy inspiration too.

coat, sweater: Think Twice vintage
dress: H&M
beanie, tights: Pimkie
boots: Texto
socks: River Island

NOW TREETIME! Keep an eye open for the various bird-themed decorations.

As you can see, I love a variety of different decorations. An OVERLOAD of different decorations to be more exact. Every year new things are added to my collection, and there's stuff in there from my boyfriend's parents too. Like those straw/wooden angels, you can hardly find stuff as authentic as that in stores these days. The more eclectic and over-decorated a tree, the better. That way, the tree really becomes an expression of your family's history. And family is what Christmas is about for me! So if any of my readers are looking for a present to give me: just buy me some sweet christmas decorations! Preferably one piece, no sets. Something to do with Santa or reindeers: tacky = love!

It wasn't always like that though, I used to be all about only silver/white decorations and simple trees when I was a teen. I moved on to ecclectic trees after that but still hated colored or flickering lights. However, my boyfriend got me a string of led-lights with different lighting settings and now I'm way into the twinkle setting (we didn't use it in the tree though, we decorated a desk with the lights). It's probably just a matter of time until I buy some multi colored blinking crazy lights to decorate EVERYTHING.

Have you put up your tree yet? How do you like to decorate yours?

Also, do you like me like me on fb? :-D

  1. Super cute outfit for decorating the tree! I love your jumper :)

The tree looks fab!! I like to decorate mine just like that - a big mish mash of lots of decorations, rather than any colour coordination or anything! xx

  2. I'm a Grinch who never puts up a tree. But I live on my own and considerably far from family so I'm never actually in my home for Christmas. My parents lived with me during last Christmas, and my mother decorated the house, but no tree. I don't hate Christmas or anything but I don't like it enough to decorate. I had one pretty little glass ornament my mother gave me of the nativity scene... and then a visiting friend shattered it. So that was it for my Christmas decor, doh. Also, that sweater, loves.

It's true wherever you find luuuurv, it feeels like chriiiiiistmaaaaaaas. Muppet christmas carol = best christmas movie ever.

  4. Well, I'm staying at my mum's for xmas, and, up until now, she hasn't even put up a single strand of tinsel... she kind of stresses about xmas, and doesn't take the time to embrace the silly season and just have fun. So tree here. Personally, I LOVE to decorate it's an excuse to dress up your house in tons of glitter and lights, and that's a lot of fun and great for lifting one's spirits when it gets really cold.

Love your tree by the way, I do remember your "tree episode" last year hehehe xxxxxx

  8. First of all, this outfit makes me happy, as does your long, soft-needled tree!

I think my family's decorating habits are pretty similar to yours... I'll doubtless be doing a post around the 22nd when I finally get home. We have everything from decorations circa the 40s from my grandparents, to some awesome glittery multicoloured biplanes bought a few years ago. : D I'm getting happy just thinking about it!

Aaaand, as I was reading somewhere the other day... the great thing about Christmas ornaments is that due to the built-in breakability likelihood, there's always room for one more!

  11. Love the outfit! And your tree looks great!
I totally agree, the more the better! and the more varied the better! I left most of my ornaments at home because I feel they belong on the family tree but I did bring a few to my new house and my roommate and I bought some more :) And yes, Christmas = family! I love seeing all my family together celebrating (Even though we see each other fairly often anyway)

  12. I am totally in love with your outfit here! The pop of yellow, the pretty floaty dress. It is SO Christmas appropriate! Also that tree is so classic, it makes me feel all cozy. Our tree last year was pink and gold, but we haven't come up with anything this year so its sitting around waiting for us to get creative.

  14. We should have organized a blogger Christmas swap! Now it's too late to ship internationally, sadness. I tend to buy wooden ornaments from the '60s, felt/plush reindeer and crazy sequined ornaments that people made back in the '70s.

Fun and festive outfit too, I want to your sweater and those berry colored tights.

  16. I agree, eclectic trees are the best. The prettiest tree in the world in my opinion used to be my grandparents because those oldfashioned tree decorations are just the bomb. I mean, lights in the form of candles that need to be clipped on the tree branches... Seriously cool. And the fushia, green, blue, silver,... tacky balls are so gorgeous! Your tree definitely achieves the same effect on me :-D And colored flickery lights are a no-no for me too!

  17. Mooie outfit, Annebeth! Vond de vorige outfits iets té punky naar mijn smaak, maar deze outfit is meer 'mijn goesting'. Helemaal christmas-style, but I love it!

  18. There you go, making me jealous of that sweater again...
I have a tradition of using my neighbor's tree after they've gone out of town! They just bring it over and I set it up in my living room. I decorate with these homemade ornaments my friends and I have made over the years out of scraps of beer cans and glitter glue. It's super festive.

  23. Your tree looks great! I think Christmas trees definitely reflect a family's history and style. I always like seeing all our decorations come out of the boxes each year and trying to remember each ornament and where it came from. Christmas is all about family for me too.
