When I was a little girl, I loved playing dress up. My parents used to own a very chic clothing store in Holland (the Queen's sister once even came in to shop in our boutique!), but when they quit that business to move to Belgium they got rid of almost all the pieces in a final sale. However, my mom had amassed a lovely collection of gorgeous silk scarves. I loved grabbing those scarves and tying them around my body. I'd strip down to my butterfly printed undies and start layering bright, printed scarves to evoke a gypsy princess look, and then I'd dance around and make believe I was Esmeralda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I remember my very favorite scarf being an ombre pink-purple-blue fabric with a very fine star print. The gypsy vibe is still something I love seeing, I really dig the layers, textures, colors, exoticism, vibrance and mystery. My outfit slightly reminded me of that inspiration again, but more toned down and wearable. You like? I do!
No idea why that one pic where I'm showing the sleeves is slightly smaller than the other ones, it's the same size on my computer but different size on my flickr. Wth? Just a small note from my anal side :-D
About London: I won't be able to go after all, as a Dutchie living in Belgium apparently I need a valid ID-card to travel to the UK, and my ID OBVIOUSLY expired. So yeah, I can't go. But I don't mind too much, I see it as a sign of fate that I should study a bit more, since our last exam Monday is actually one of the harder ones this semester. And now the lovely Stéphanie of Stylelab can go in my place and I'm super happy for her! So all is guuuuud. I just wish the weather would improve a bit :(

Oh, die rok vind ik echt SUPER! Die kleuren en vooral die mooie print.. Wauw!
By the wayyyy: gipsy is met een i geschreven. Mijn mama flipte bijna toen ik het bij mijn eigen gipsy post schreef met een y, dus daarom dat het er bij mij goed in zit ;-)
kissssiiiieee!
Heel mooi topje!^^
ReplyDeleteI am loving the gypsy/bohemian aesthetic to this outfit! The skirt is the perfect length (loving the midi) and the detailing on the blouse is the perfect detail. Beautiful lady!! And that's so awesome about your mamas scarf collection. xx

Very pretty bohemian look with a nice story behind it.Love the third picture, you look so laid-back and bautifully happy.
ReplyDeleteMooie wedges!!!
ReplyDeletegypsy boho chic! love the look!

Awww, beautiful outfit, and I love the story behind it! I really like the colors of the skirt and how the floral headband looks with this. How cool that your parents owned a clothing store!
ReplyDeleteYay I love paisley and you're definitely rockin' that skirt. The little lace top/dress definitely adds the 'Esmerelda' element to the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI love love love that shirt!
ReplyDeletethe first photo is absolutely stunning, it is such a strong image, you look so calm and the structure of you face is insane. love the printed skirt so much because it is perfectly combined. the white structured top is so so bright. always am a huge fan of belts! it is like the finishing touch and it makes or brakes your look.
ReplyDeleteI think you look super pretty in this outfit, and I love the pattern of that skirt. And the little sleeves. Classic, toned-down gypsy.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about London; the UK are a bit annoying insisting on ID when the rest of the EU mostly lets people get on with it...
The print on that dress is gorgeous! You wear it with great flair.
ReplyDeleteI used to love dressing up myself. We had this big trunk full of old clothes and that included a long black skirt with little mirrors in it, that so was my favourite piece. I wonder what happened to it..
I can definitely imagine you loving Esmerelda when you were little! I absolutely love that movie still. It's wonderful. That skirt you're wearing looks great with the little lacey top. Cool hairdo today too! The accessories in it are great
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little I loved Esmeralda's character! I wanted to be like her ;)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is perfectly gipsy, I love that skirt!

Ooh, you look so innocent and sweet on those pictures! Haha, but in real life... ;). Het is weer bijna huge solden bij T2 zeker? Gij hebt daar al massa's korting gekregen met uw klantenkaartje wrs! =D
ReplyDeleteDefinitely feeling the gypsy vibe, you voodoo chile you! A shame you won't be able to go to London and so generous of you to let someone else go in your place. And then they say the Dutch are mean and cheap ;) Just a joke from one Belgian Dutchie to another of course :D
ReplyDeleteSuch a great outfit. And I must say, that headband? WOW. It's just so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your gipsy skirt and shoes...
ReplyDeleteThe lace top is so sweet and I really love the skirt too. That's cool about the shop where the queen's sister went.
