Checked out

Another very retro look today! Some Belgian bloggers got together to form a cute little initiative, project blogway. We get a weekly challenge (this week it's "fifties"), and we all have to put together an outfit to enter. At the end of the week, a winner will be picked! Fun little way to get in touch with everyone and share some love with other bloggers :) So here's my entry!

I seem to be inexplicably drawn to my two new pairs of New Look shoes: these and the chunky Mary Janes. Best buys ever! I'm eyeing yet another pair of New Look shoes by the way. Just look at these things and tell me thei aren't perfect.

So yeah, these are prettttty high on my wish list right now. God, when does this ever stop? Do we ever stop buying stuff? Please tell me we do. Sometimes I look at myself through a non-fashion-lover's eyes and I just think DAYUM that girl is stupid. Maybe I'll even eventually grow out of this phase of buying and falling head over heels with, well, heels. BUT HOW WILL I FILL THIS UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING THEN?? Why do we even need to fill our lives with stuff? I'm telling ya, one day I'll become a hermit in a desert wearing nothing but diapers made out of some old IKEA bed sheets, meditating on the meaning of life, living on roasted grasshoppers and condensation on the walls of my desert cave. Maybe THEN I will have found the real meaning of life. Until then, I will buy shoes.

Blouse, skirt: T2 vintage (cut off the sleeves myself)
shoes: New Look
ring: Alex Monroe
sunnies: Claire's
headband: don't remember

PS: Don't forget to vote for my Frida Kahlo outfit here, click "gallery", "most liked" and you should be able to see me when you scroll down a bit! I'll be forever grateful <3

  1. Well, you HAVE to win, because you are the master of cute fifties looks! I am excited to see the challenges over the weeks :) Who picks the winner? I guess when I click on the link I will find out haha!

I love the colour and pattern combinations. And i totally get what you are saying, i do think that people look at me and think "god, what a typical money-spending shopaholic fashion bimbo" haha... ahhhh well :D

  2. I love gingham, and I love blouses tied in front!

Yeah, I'm kind of appalled at the moment by how much stuff I have. Mainly because there is no room for any of it where I am at the moment, and I just think, maybe life would be easier if I didn't travel everywhere with ten pairs of shoes. Pfff.

Also, I remember reading an interesting point somewhere; to break the buying habit a bit, remind yourself that you don't need to buy something in order to appreciate it. Sometimes you can just look at it, tell someone about it, blog it, acknowledge how nice it is; you don't actually need to own it.

  4. Such a great retro look, for summer I loove button up tops like this knotted. And this one looks so great with that skirt, the patterns together are perfect.
I am so bad for buying stuff I don't need. My closet is OVERFLOWING!! And I keep telling myself I'll stop, but then I find something wonderful and want it. It's time for a shopping diet I believe.

  9. I love the idea of a blog collective/contest-- hope you win! You're the queen of print mixing as per usual, I also like how you made the blouse more sassy by tying it up and lowering the neckline. Definitely seems like something a '50s collegiate girl would have worn on a picnic with her beau. :)
