Jumper Dress and Cropped Sweater

jumper dress, cropped sweater, rust tights: H&M - terracotta winklepicker boots: Zara

Time for an outfit! I was stuck in a total rut when styling this outfit, no inspiration whatsoever. I stil get that feeling from time to time, like EVERYTHING I have worn before is so incredibly dowdy/childish/twee/CRAP and I feel like I just looked a damned FOOL back then. And when I feel like that, I hate about 90% of everything in my closet and I just want to wear jeans and a t-shirt and a sweater and call it a day, you know? BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE I HAVE A BLAAAAAWG.

Thanks a lot you guys.

No but seriously, I tried on like 5 outfits and it all sucked and then I ended up with this outfit that is quite cute (albeit a bit too autumnal for the time of year) but still wayyyy too Alexa Chung for my current self-identification. You know? Like, you like something objectively but you don't FEEL it? That's what I mean. Right about now (the funk soul brother) I'm way more into clean, sophisticated, relaxed and grown up with a funky twist.

I feel the need for a closet purge coming up again, but I want to wait until the summer comes because I think I'll like wearing my cutesy vintage dresses again when it's bare legs time. Bare with me! Or give me tips on how to beat the boredom!

  1. I know this feeling, I want to throw it all out at times too :) The outfit does remind me more of your older once, not bad, but not much you anymore. Hope you get through it.

We just need spring and sun!!!!!

  3. I know how you feel! I'm in a clothing transition right now where I love all the vintage stuff I have but I just want to look cleaner and more modern, and it's driving me nuts not knowing what to put together some days!
But you look cute, even if it wasn't something you were feeling. :)

  5. Yup, but you can easily wear the dress in a more alternative way too.

  6. aaaah that feeling.
I think you should go for jeans and t-shirt if you feel so, and don't think about the blawg! :D
Of course, we LOVE to see what you come up with, but it's your right to relax and go for jeans if you feel so. After all you look cute even in boyfriends! ;)
I love this cute outfit, and you are right about the autumn feeling, but it looks like a "second autumn" these days, even here.. No signs for spring. I think this has a lot to do with THAT feeling of nothing works. It's time to switch to summery dresses, but this unusual freeze has stuck us all to our winterwear. -_-
I still go for my sweater dresses.. and I start to feel booooooored by this weather and what I have to wear in consequence.

  9. I know but then it turns very teenager-grungy straight away, and I'm only in the mood for that once in a while. I wanted to make it look more grown up, which is sort of impossible with a jumper dress :D :D

  17. hmm well my style has been going through changes from very girly towards a little more grown up/sophisticated ever since I decided to go for a pink dip dye, which is almost one and a half years ago by now, so it was actually more gradual than it might seem. And I've tried to focus on buying basics and classics I could style in different ways. Also, I've been getting a lot of free items over the past months so those make up quite a big part of my growing wardrobe, and working two jobs has freed some disposable income!

I got rid of items I was sure I wouldn't be wearing anymore last october in a closet sale, and I dropped off a lot at the thrift store as well. But I do sometimes look at the HUGE amount of pretty dresses I have left and go ":(" because I just don't enjoy wearing them at the moment, and they take up at least half my wardrobe. Then again, most of them are summer items so I suspect I'll wear more of them when the sun comes out again. For some reason, I find dresses so very "dressy" when paired with tights and boots or shoes, while I find them more wearable with sandals and bare legs. Don't worry, you'll see my dresses again! :D And some of them I just don't want to throw out because they are such nice pieces, and I'm bound to like vintage again at some time in the future. I'm fickle like that :)

  18. Sometimes it's just hard to have outfit inspiration between seasons! I understand! I think you look super cute in your overall dress and cozy sweater though!
