Bits and Bobs and Glitter

No time for an outfitpost (OK no I'm just more in the mood to eat Doritos and watch Dance Moms, SUE ME), but here are some bits and bobs I wanted to share with you guys!

Catrice Ultimate Shine 210, Kiss Kiss Hibiskuss. SUCH a versatile color, I recommend it to all of you. Supercheap and you can wear it as a gloss (one coat), as a more opaque glossy lipstick (more coats) or a bright, almost coral-matte hue comparable to Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam lipstick if you powder your lips with translucent powder after putting on your lipstick. Here, I'm just wearing one thin coat, but you can see me double coatin' and powdered off in my last post and here

New fave nailpolish. Trust me, it looks better in real life. This cheapie essence dupe for my one and only nailpolish obsession (Opi/muppet Rainbow Connection) is amazing. LOADS of glitter, almost covers your entire nail after just two coats. And like, 2,50€ or something? The Opi one costs like 20€ over here. GO GET IT

If you hate your dark circles like I do (or just have deep set eyes like I do), you are probably forever on the lookout for a good concealer. And let me tell you, of all the concealers I've tried over the years, this Catrice one is PERFECT for me. Cheap (yes this is important to me, it maybe costs 5€?) and a neutral shade pigmented enough to cover up major baggage, but the most important thing is the texture. Almost every concealer I've tried goes cakey or emphasizes the tiny wrinkles around your eye, but this one? None of that. Not thick or gooey, not drying, and light yet providing sufficient coverage. I'm in love with it. Not that I want to have its babies, but lemme tell you: those babies would NEVER look tired.

I made AMAZING pasta a la norma. I'm not even tooting my own horn here, it was simply awesome. I don't even like eggplant! The combination of all of these ingredients is divine, so google that shit and make it yourself. Vegetarian swag!

yes, another shot of my nailpolish. I just love it SO MUCH.

Do you have anything small and exciting to share? I think it's important to get all hyped up about silly little things in life, it makes your day a lot more fun. I see it as a way of keeping in touch with my inner child. Kids don't need a lot, they are psyched by something as small as the promise of pancakes. Then again, pancakes are pretty awesome.

Have a nice day!

  1. Honey, your 'dark circles' under your eyes are nothing compared to mine: they give me panda eyes. I'm definitely going to try out the Catrice concealer, thanks for trying it out for me first ;).
I'll probably try and buy a bunch of lipsticks that don't really suit me when I use them at home :|. I'm looking for something with hints of brown or rusty or beige...but my lips are rather red naturally and finding the proper lipstick is not my forte. The regret over such a little bad buy is soon over when I see how much fun the girlies in my family have playing with them...such cute little street hookers, hahah! Of course we all say they look like princesses or models and let them continue to cake on the make-up.
I've kept my inner child very much alive...and ITA: life is about the little things, it's up to ourselves to make them big.
Currently I'm excitedly waiting for the blackbirds to return to the two old nests in my garden and use them again (silly birds chose a place right under noisy windbells, but hey: if they love it...fine by me).
Also, I can get very excited of small displays of affection...they can litteraly make me skip instead of walking (which I try to suppress in public with little result though) :D.

If you will excuse me now: after seeing the foodporn and looking for the recipe, I MUST raid the fridge.

  2. you should go to a MAC store or something and have them advise you colorwise, my friend got great help when she was looking for a neutral color and she has very red lips herself too. Also, my dark circles get BAD yo. Check my post sad day green boots (or something), you can see them clearly there even though I tried covering up!

And MAKE that dish, it is easy and awesome, SO yum. Fresh (or frozen) basil is a must though, and some chili flakes to give it a kick! also, I use feta instead of salted ricotta, same basic thing but easier to get your hands on. A typical dish where I don't LOVE all the individual ingredients, but the combination is seriously divine. DIVINE

  3. Gotta love Catrice! De kleur staat je zo goed, ik vind dat je echt goed met felle kleuren staat, niet eerlijk! Heb je uw inner child ook losgelaten vandaag bij Oona? ;)

  4. Sadly, I've had sought advice, from more expensive brands too and the result when actually wearing lipstck for some time is seldom what I expected (or was promised). In most shops you can't test the lipstick on your lips, but I've had my entire face made up by last year cosmotology sudents and it looked swell...until I got home. The mystery of the vanishing and/or changing lipstick :(. My upper eye lids contain lots of pigment and look slightly made up sans eye shadow. Of course I know to take that natural colour into account when it comes to choosing the right eye make-up for me. But the lipstick puzzle has not yet been solved.

And I didn't want to bring it up, because your post was so vibrant and fun, but I look tired (more than usual) and sad because I am. My oldest cat (16 y/o) fell ill 3 months ago, got better, got ill again...and I had to have him euthanised 2 weeks ago. I'm not diminishing your sadness or fatigue (your ordeals were about your dad and thesis - no matter how beloved a pet is, it's still an animal) , I'm simply comparing the dark circles. To conceal mine I'll have to go Kim-Kardashian (eww).

Lovely that you add your own touches to recipes; I rarely follow them either, all I need are the basic ingredients.

  6. I know how you feel, I have always had cats throughout my life and when one of them died, I was always gutted. Sadly, we always have to go through it with our pets... at least you have given them an amazing life and love!

about the make up: making peace with the fact that make up never looks perfect, not even on celebrities with make up artists working on them, is KEY to loving your own make up skills. No product is perfect! you'll always need touch ups if you wear a visible face of make up. Just try to find fun in it, like ladylike pruning :D

  9. OKAY DIE NAGELLAK MOET IK HEBBEN. ZO MOOI!

  14. The small things are what make life worth living, so far as I'm concerned. Little things like cookies in the afternoon or a sparkly polish definitely do it for me :D
