It's december 10th, and the cold has come in full force. It's not freezing yet, but we've gotten to that time of year where the cold wind feels like it's biting off your fingers if you spend too much time taking pictures sans gloves. The perfect weather to bundle up, though! Bringing out the hats, scarfs, knits and fleece lined tights again does feel good. And it saves my poor limbs from frostbite.
I'm not the kind of person who has the type of exciting life that takes her to concert venues on hump day, but we went to see Florence and the Machine last night, and boy was it epic. Florence Welch is the kind of artist that will become a timeless icon, like Stevie Nicks or Iggy Pop, because they seem to embody the type of burning authenticity that draws people to them, like moths to a flame. And her lyrics are the type you want to tattoo on your body.
Life's good all around, by the way. My research is going very well (I'm currently conducting an ethnography of preteens in after school care), I've taken off from work for the holidays for a couple of weeks, and this weekend is filled with celebrations of my sister's birthday. Tomorrow night we're going out for dinner with Sabina, and Sunday we're having a family gettogether to eat and watch a musical together. Nothing feels good like spending time with your loved ones over the holidays.
