Hey guys! I did a guestpost over at Charlotte's blog, go check it out! Just a simple little outfitpost :-) And I'm not actually 24 yet since it got published sooner than I thought (haha this will totally make sense when you read the guestpost), but my question still stands: is a sailor dress like the one I'm wearing there too childish/costumey, and how can I keep it fashion instead of fetisj? Or should I just stay away from dresses like this alltogether? :-D
Tips are welcome!
Also, thanks so much for all your feedback on yesterday's post. Don't forget to check it out and chime in if you haven't already, I love reading your opinions!!
AMazing dress! Will check out your guestpost...

Amazing dress!! Great look!!
ReplyDeleteI adore such dresses and outfits. Just do as u please, there're no rules!
ReplyDeleteah!! i have a nautical dress that's similar in theme, where the purchase was a little nerve-wracking because i feared the same thing. it has a ribbon around the waist that ties into a huge bow, so sometimes i nix the bow and use a different belt. so maybe you could do the same thing and leave it plain, add a brooch, or maybe some jewelry? just a thought! love your blog, btw =)
ReplyDeleteI love your dress! I have one just like it in white with navy accents. I knew it looked like one I had when I was really little, but it was too cute to pass up. I don't think you look too costume-y at all! Just summery and adorable
ReplyDeleteI love sailor dresses like this! I think they can sometimes look too costumey, like if someone is too matchy-matchy and cutesy-cutesy with it. Like if someone adds too much red to it, then I think that is borderline costume. But as you're wearing it, like Jamie Rose said, you just look darling and summery. :)

I do think this dress look amazing. But I also know what you mean about the costume thing.. hm, maybe it just depends on where to wear it? More to a barbeque with friends than to uni maybe. I don't know. But I love it though!
ReplyDeleteI loove the dress and your shoes!!! :D :D About to check out the guest post too :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think its too costumey, but it can get that way depending how you style it. But I don't think its too kiddy depending on how you wear it :D

really cute sailor dress! happy monday, annebeth!
ReplyDeletei'm kind of back from a week long hiatus so don't mind me popping up in your comments page. :)
Love the sailor dress, it's really quite cute. Definitely dresses like this can go either way, I think if you pair it with classic pieces and don't go overboard on the nautical theme it keeps it chic, you look very chic here!

really cute sailor dress! and it suits you :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's cute, but pervy men may find it costumey. Like Sailor Moon or something. But you're keeping it tasteful and cute!
ReplyDeletelove the shoes
ReplyDeletei think this sort of dress is meant to be a bit of fun anyway, but keeping it simple and classic works, not going ott with accessories and other nautical themed pieces.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in this dress and it doesn't look costumey at all... just stay away from wearing your hair in pigtails, wearing a huge hair bow or knee socks/mary janes with it.
ReplyDeleteIk vind het heel mooi zo. Zo'n prachtig jurkje heeft niets extra nodig!
ReplyDeleteI personally love this dress, I think that it could be "costume-esque" if paired with lots of red and white accessories but the purple shoe makes it fashion I think... I love it - you always look so great!

LOOOVING the dress! ;)
ReplyDeleteso cute! love your sandals!xoxo
ReplyDeleteplease do not stand away from dresses like that. those dresses are not made for everybody, but they are made for you. as usual, it fits you perfectly. love the high waist line. the bow is adorable, but in any little child kind of way. love the length; not too short or too long. what i love about this look is the fact that the dress is enough. you don't need a lot of accessories. just perfect as it is
ReplyDeleteHehe, this if very reminiscent of my schoolgirl worries last week. For the record, I don't think this is childish at all. I mean, I guess I can see where you're coming from with that, but what kind of world is it if we can't wear sailor dresses? You look awesome.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you think the dress is a fetish, what about the glasses? There's a more direct reference to Lolita there, I think. But both are great!
I guess I don't think the glasses are as fetish because, well, what kind of world have we come to if even sunglasses are considered risqué? :D
ReplyDeleteNot at all childish, just keep it classy with the other accessories :) Cute little sailor you are!
ReplyDeleteI think the dress is awesome, it doesn't look childish or anything! I don't know what else to say on that matter, because, quite frankly, i love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't think that dress is too childish at all! I think it's all in the way you wear something. You're clearly wearing it with humor, fun, and joy, and that makes for a totally different look than if you sexed it up! You know what I mean? <3
ReplyDeleteyou are like the cutest sailor ever!

Looking lovely as ever! Loving the purple sandals with that adorable dress my dear!! This is getting me excited for summer weather and picnics. xx
ReplyDeleteI love sailor outfits! Must have something to do with me being a huge Sailor Moon fan. I used to pretend I was a sailor scout as a kid and have an obsession with Japanese school uniforms, even bought one of those red collar bows worn by girls in Japan when I was in Tokyo :) So I guess you may know by now... I don't think your dress is childish at all! It's just fun as fashion should be!
ReplyDeleteDeze jurk moet je zeker blijven dragen ! Hij staat je heel goed & heeft een hoog schattigheidsgehalte ! Zeker niets fout aan ! x
ReplyDeleteI love your sailor dress! I'm a big fan of nautical themed clothing but I'm always afraid I'll look too "costume-y." :P
ReplyDeletelove the dress! where from, need like yesterday!
