Ah, today is the day after boxing day, and I'm guessing we're all just about done recuperating from our food comas. Just in time for New Year's Eve and related party affairs. We kept it relatively modest this year: on Christmas day, my mom, sister and her boyfriend came over to our home enjoy a family meal together, and on Christmas eve, my boyfriend and I went out and feasted on sushi at Umi Antwerp.

I jump on any occasion to dress up, especially now that I've been home for the past week for the holidays (hello leggings + plaid shirts all day errrday), and I put together this black and gold ensemble. I've had this dress for agessss, which just goes to show that a good little black dress is the type of basic that will last and last in your wardrobe. I especially love how the gold heeled sandals look paired with the black tights, it's an unexpectedly cute look I've always been partial to. The knit cardigan just makes the look a bit more cozy and casual.

I also put some extra effort into my hair: I rolled it up in a messy french twist using this tutorial, and I curled the loose sections in front to finish off the look. It looked neater before we took these pictures, it was SUPER windy outside and after walking around looking for a spot that was sheltered from the storm, most of the curl was gone. You'll just have to take my word for it that it looked prettier before! On the lips, I'm wearing Victoriana, and on the eyes I applied MAC's Blue Brown pigment (I should really review that one) and Eylure's Cool Kitty false lashes.

Enjoy your further holidays!
