Daisy Chain

Never once in my life have I made a daisy chain. I love love LOVE the look of them, the way they remind me of young girls with freckles and bare feet braiding each other's hair and picking flowers, how they are a very relaxing way to spend some time on a sunny day in spring. Perfect to get your mind off things. My boy and me walked over to our town's football field last Saturday to frolick around in the sun. He kicked the ball around, and I sat down to make a daisy chain. The field was filled with daisies! This calls for a tutorial for all you daisy virgins out there.

What you need:

a fiel full of daisies

A nail on your pinky finger

What to do:

Try and find the daisies with thicker stems (makes it easier to create the holes). Make a small opening in the stems by wedging your pinky nail into it. Make sure to make a closed circle and not to tear the stem. Carefully open up the hole and pull through the next daisy. Repeat until you have a long strand of daisies. To close your chain, repeat the same technique using your first and last daisy. Et voila! I wore mine the rest of the evening, even grocery shopping. It looks so pretty.

dress: Think Twice vintage - sandals: H&M - daisy chain: DIY

Don't you just love my weird mid talking pose? I look like I'm mime-DJ'ing, scratching the record with my right hand and holding my earphones with the left :-D

  7. Ever since I first heard "M'Aidez" by Sneaker Pimps, I think of that song whenever I see daisies, or a daisy chain. I can totally see you dancing to that song in that last photo; you look so "dreamy girly hippie" there... more close to nature than to tech :). Not that the dress has a hippie-vibe, that is still in line with your preferred style which suits you so well.
Nice new banner and subtle lay-out changes too, Springtime! Is there anything you are not good at, girl :D ?

  8. haha yes I guess I'm both a tech girl and a nature girl, what with the blog and my undying love for life and all the flora and fauna around me (also I am good at videogames). Thank you for the feedback on my lay out! I just messed around a bit, it's easier than I thought :D

  9. Annebeth, rest asure: nature vs. tech is very well balanced from what I see here. Which is becoming rare nowadays with so many people craving the latest technological gadgets but being blind to the beauty of nature. FYI: I also classify your DIY (altering your garments, the red flower headband, this cute daisy chain, etc.) under 'nature'. But I would have not seen any of it without your ability to work with a computer, right?

And thanks for adding a large "Pinterest" button :). For some mysterious reason I always forget about it unless there is a 'right in your face' button/link/mentioning of it. Not just with you but with everybody. Since I read your blog daily, I now have a teriffic reminder to go and visit that site and see what my friends have pinned :D.
