My brother and his love got hitched earlier this year in Vegas, elopement and all, but yesterday the lovely couple threw a beautiful American style BBQ party in a rented garden just outside of Amsterdam. Me and my man drove over to spend a beautiful (albeit slightly chilly and rainy) day with loved ones and friends in picturesque Baambrugge! Of course I have to share some of the love with you guys. So scroll along for pictures of beautiful people and yummy food accompanied by funny captions!
I practically squealed with delight when this cute little farm caught my eye. It was right by a weeping willow-lined stream filled with boats lying anchored down, and the party was in the gorgeous backyard. The random chicken popping up here and there only added to the countryside charm.
Lights hanging from appletrees, tents, picnic tables, an awesome little shed where we'd take refuge later at night when the weather went awry: this was basically my DREAM location for a wedding(party).
My mom was already there and welcomed me, my sister and our better halves with open arms. My sis being a nagging teenager obviously had to make a sourpuss face when mom kissed her (just kidding sis! :-D).
A quick outfitshot of me mingling! Just kidding, I'm not being sociable and cool, I'm talking to my dad. I totally overdressed btw, per usual.
Ice tea and brownies
The beautiful couple getting ready to make a toast!
Pink sparkly wine to get the party started
My sis and me obviously took about 5 minutes before kicking off our shoes and wriggling our toes in the soft grass (and mud, I spent about half an hour soaking my feet when I got home to get all the dirt off!)
dude stole ma hat yo
sometimes, one must uphold traditions. Like the garter at a wedding! The lovely bride is showing off her garter (and sexy leg). My brother is inspecting his prezzie. DUDE PAY ATTENTION YOUR WIFE IS SEXY
We spent some time doing a cheesy romantic photoshoot. My boyfriend and me were styled with Pete and Trudy Campbell's wedding outfit ever so slightly in mind. Mad Men fo life.
spitting image, right? Ha not really, but my take on it anyways!
we started getting really hungry quite soon, but little did we know we were invited to a slow-cooking BBQ party. The meat was infused with flavor and very tender, but we were not prepared for the long wait! Many peanuts were eaten to soothe our aching appetites.
This is us waiting for foodz and bitching because that's what we do. Also, I put on sandals because it was getting rather chilly and drizzling by now. Yeah, socks and closed shoes would've been better. Sadface.
a really handsome pic of my boy just cuz

God it was absolutely delicious. I ate it ALL except for my beans, just a tad too spicy for me. On my plate: pork, ribs, a wrap with goat's cheese, salmon, potato salad and caesar salad.
It started getting dark after our dinner, and the rain kept coming down. We used a dry moment to roast some marshmallows for dessert.
We headed inside to drink some tea in the shed and take gnarly pictures with cool FX
Hahaha my boyfriend's magic tongue. Double entendre intended.
Soooo that was it! I'm totally having my wedding party here. But I'll bring a warm sweater for when it gets cold at night. And some pizzas to bridge the hunger gap. It was a beautiful day only slightly ruined by the rain, but if the weather had stayed as sunny and warm we probably would have stayed there the entire night until the sun came up, hanging in the hammock, smalltalking with the amazing people or enjoying a good old campfire.

ReplyDeleteThis looks like SUCH an awesome party!! You and your guy both look gorgeous and totally coordinate well together. The food looks amazingggg (i'm always jealous of your food pictures), and the happy couple look so sweet too! You are lucky, your style seems to really suit this party haha ;)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful & the wedding looks like a blast, so glad you shared! First, I can't help but say "it's a rooster, not a chicken Annebeth! see that funny little thing on its head?"! hehe finally found something in your writing, which is usually better than my native-speaker writing. Anyway, that looks like truly a perfect place for a wedding reception, the bride is quite sexy indeed, and I absolutely loved seeing the adorable pics of you & your man, you both look very hot & stylin too! I loved that the rooster is peeking in on the "freak dance pose" one & your expressions when you're sitting on the trampoline are priceless!
ReplyDeleteOh, & love your sis's face when your mom is kissing her! They both have such pretty dresses as well, much run in the family!

What a fun party!! I too bitch when I have to wait for my food. Now I just eat a meal or something before I go to a bbq, cuz it just takes forever! Anywho, I love the idea of doing a garden party/bbq for an elopement. It seems to be a trend amoung my friends as well! Last two wedding celebrations have been outdoorsy type occassions for a wedding that already took place.
