Dotty + Hair?

I present to you a new vintage dress I picked up for 4 euro a few weeks ago! I couldn't resist the dots, the flowy fabric (even though I usually stay away from manmade fabrics, this one doesn't bother me), the cut and the EVERYTHING. I'm sort of contemplating making the top part a bit more fitted, but I'm letting that idea stew in my brain.

I really love how this outfit came together. You might not be able to tell from the end result, but I had a bit of trouble styling the dress. I wanted to keep it a bit fun and funky, not TOO dressed up, but I didn't like the way it looked with flats and it was too warm for lots of accessories. The denim jacket was the perfect way to dress it down, even though I was wearing heels. Added a pop of color with the red flowers (took them off of a headband  a while ago and just pinned them on the pocket of my jacket with a bobby pin. Creative, right? ;-)

I'm in an iffy zone with regards to my hairz. It's getting quite long, and it looks ok on the day I wash it, but it gets to that unwieldy yucky stage as time goes by and on the third day I have no choice but to put it up. To give you an idea of what it looks like on that dreaded third day: flat on top, big, messy and uneven at the ends. Not a good look. Maybe I just need to get it cut a bit to frame my face more (I'm even thinking about bangs! Gasp!), but of course it makes me think of going shorter again as well. Sort of thinking of something ultra girly and sweet like this:

 Or shorter again like this:

I'm leaning towards the long hair right now, but need your feedback on the bangs! I've had bangs for a long period of time but then I got "over" them. Should I return to my bangin' ways?

long sans bangs:

Opinions please!

Anyway, I'm going to be properly intellectual (not) and watch Iron Man with my guy! Enjoy your Friday night, and please remind me that I need to study more tomorrow. I'm such a slacker, and exams are coming up.

  1. Superleuk jurkje! You and your fantastic finds.

As for the hair....

  8. Ew, I have exams and end-of-term madness coming up, too. I say watch the movie while you can and take a break!

As for the hair, I think some face-framing layers would look lovely on you. I love the shorter look you posted, so maybe you can keep the shape but let the overall layers be longer. Whatever you do, I'm sure it'll be lovely! Enjoy your weekend.

  9. dear Annebeth, another gorgeous outfit. That vintage dress is so so pretty and I adore that you paired it with the denim jacket. It is a very good item to make outfits and dresses especially more relaxed!
As for the hair, I think you look gorgeous in all the ways you had it but I quite like the haircut you have now, it's just so effortlessly chic! And the ponytail looks so cute on you!

  16. You look goreous with your hair any length with bangs or with out bangs but I love it shorter with the fringe. Super cute dress and I love the way you have styled it and don't forget you have to study.

  17. I can't believe it only cost 4€ :o It is amazing! And I also loved how you styled it. The denim jacket was the perfect choice indeed :)

And you remind me a lot of Emiliana Torrini in this photos! I guess the hair is one of the reasons you remind me of her. Oh, and I really like your hair like this but the first one is lovely too!

  19. Super leuke jurk!

  20. Ooh, short looks amazing on you! I miss my short hair, I'm trying to.grow it long, so I can try some different styles. But every time I see someone with a cute little bob I get serious hair envy!

Thanks x

  23. oh dear oh dear sitting again with my mouth open. first of all: that dress is insane!!! love love the way it fits you! you have to give me a lesson in finding those pieces. fabulous with the little belt. adore the movement and the combination with the jacket. and yes the shoes are perfect.

i love the color of your hair! i think they call it ombre or something. but i know what you mean, you are in-between lengths. and it easily can feel as if you have like no hairstyle at all. i think i like you more with shorter hair. you have very healthy and tick hair, so it not always easy to have long hair (as you said flat on top, messy at the bottom). oh and i like you with a froufrou

  24. Love the denim jacket and flower! I think you ought to go with the 'shorter again" bob. :)

En, mijn god. Wat heb jij mooie benen zeg. Zeker op de een na laatste foto. Ik wil ook zulke benen!

  27. I adore the outfit, 4 Euros is AMAZING! And I love how you pinned the red flower to your jacket, it is so cute. I think you are pretty lucky and suit most hair styles, although I am a fringe (bangs) lover so I would recommend ;) haha x

  28. I'm a huge fan of bangs, so that's always gonna be my advice :). LOVE THIS DRESS with the jacket, I'm wearin' the hell outta my denim jacket these days.

  32. Love the dress, what a bargain! I'd so go for the bangs and short hair it really suits you! x

  34. You are just the cutest thing. Really!

I'm quite fond of the short hair with bangs! I feel like not everyone can pull of shorter hair but that you most certainly can.. and of course I'm crazy about bangs!

now your hair.. tough question, it's really cute how it is now but you also look adorable with it short. I think you with bangs and a bob could look awesome! (Then again I am partial to this short, sleek bob look since my hair would never work like this!)

  39. Study more NOW! That goes for me as well ^^ That dress is supercute and I love bangs because I've had bangs myself for most of my life. And also because they are simply awesome. I think your hair looks great short, but if it's long you can do more things with it.

I was also wondering: did you get hair ombre'd? In some pictures it looks like you did because the tips look blondish. Was thinking about getting the old ombre done too but didn't know what it would cost me and am really low budget on the hair. My mom usually cuts it. I'm such a geek. Will I see you on Thursday at the Kirilove event? x

  43. I love the outfit, the denim jacket really does the trick to keep this fun and casual. I avoid bangs like the plague, mostly because I can't stand hair that grows to a length that it likes to sit in my eyes! I say grow your hair long and avoid the bangs!

I can't imagine not washing my hair for three days though, woo. I wash my hair, every, single, day. And I feel so terribly icky if I skip a day XD
