I've always wanted to shoot an outfit sitting outside some cute little café - or in this case, the salon de thé Claude. Those tables are always jam packed when the weather warms up, so my only two options are to either brave the cold and act like I'm having a grand old time freezing my fingers off, or annoy everyone who is there to actually eat and drink by taking pictures on a sunny day when it's more crowded. I went for the former option, obviously. The Hendrik Conscience square is so gorgeous (my fav part of Antwerp) and I really recommend it to the lunch crowd, because there's some lovely spots to enjoy quiches and soups there.
The outfit is warm and layered up (turtle necks and fleece tights, what what!), but also quite girly despite the dark color palette. My boyfriend even commented on it, saying that I don't usually go for the fit and flare silhouette anymore, and he's right. I feel like I can just about manage this dress when I layer it over a shirt or a turtle neck though, because that sort of takes it from cutesy to a more preppy vibe, one I'm more comfortable with. Spencer Hastings would approve. The brogues also work very well to keep this from being too twee. I live for these brogues, man, I wear them all the time and already dread the day when they're too scuffed up to function as my no.1 pair of office shoes. They're the most comfortable pair of non-sneakers/birkenstocks shoes I own, and they work so well with skirts and dresses. Definitely a must have for my style.
