Ah, September first! I haven't had a first day of school in three years, but that unofficial first day of fall still smells of change. For some reason, September feels more like the start of a new year than January, for me. Professionally, I'm at the threshold of the next stage of my research: the part where I'll actually be researching children and their media habits. I'm really excited to move on to a less theoretical part of my PhD, more people-centered than conceptual.
And stylewise, well, after Puerto Rico and France, I FINALLY feel like I've gotten some wear out of my summer clothes. Too often, I reach the end of August and feel like I haven't had the opportunity to wear even half of my summer wardrobe, which in turn makes me bitter about all the fall fashions pushing its way into my pinterest feed. But not this year! I'm actually kind of ready to put away my Birkenstocks and pull out my boots again. I'm planning on wearing all the bare leg outfits I can until it becomes too chilly, though. I know I'll be nagging about being confined to tights and layers for half a year soon enough.
Today's outfit is a great transitional look, adding a blazer and swapping sandals for boots takes it from summer casual to fall preppy: exactly what I want to be wearing right now.
How are you transitioning from summer to fall, in life and in style?
