If you know me, you know I take great pride in my eyebrows. I mean, they're not much on their own, but with a little bit of extra love and care, they become a real feature for my face. They are the perfect way to finish a look, or to start one: after all, summer make up doesn't need much more than eyebrows, bronzer and some lip balm.
I've been very content using my & Other Stories eyebrow powder (review + easy eyebrow tutorial here), but during one of my bi-weekly & Other Stories, I spotted their new eyebrow product: a tiny little tube of eyebrow cream. This one comes in four shades, just like their eyebrow powder. Two warm shades, and two cool shades. I instantly grabbed the darkest cool shade, since that works best for my colouring, and while I was testing the cream on my own brows, a lady walked up to me to ask me what I was using and what I would recommend. A few minutes later, we both walked out with the & Other Stories eyebrow cream in Triptych Coal! I guess I was made to work in retail, selling stuff even if I'm not working.
On to the review!
Look at that tiny little tube! Those 8ml will last you ages, though. The picture below shows a swatch of the colour and the consistency, and it is also an approximation of how little I have to use to do both my brows. Just a teeny amount.
The eyebrow cream is thick, almost waxy, and it is definitely water resistant unless you do some vigorous rubbing. Perfect for sweaty summer weather, people who can't stop touching their faces, or people who have very sparse eyebrows: powder products don't have the best staying power or give the most natural look when they have nothing to hold on to, but this eyebrow cream stays put all day.
Ah, I always marvel at how much of a difference it makes when I colour in my eyebrows. I have very light eyebrows naturally, and I think it looks weird with my dark hair. I've gotten so used to how I look with the darker, drawn on eyebrows, that I don't feel like "me" when I don't have my brows on. I mean, just look at the difference!
How is this even the same girl?? Hilarious. It changes the entire expression of my face, from soft and subdued to something more cheeky. I used a light hand with the application, but the eyebrow cream can also be used to create a very "done", sharp look, which is great for a full face of make up. Just be sure to start with the middle-to-outside end of your eyebrows, and leave the inner part of your eyebrows (near your nose) for last: that bit should be the least "drawn on" for a natural end result, so I usually only use what's left on the brush to colour in that last stretch.
It was instant love between me and Triptych Coal, but I couldn't be 100%
positive about the entire line: I swatched all four available shades when I was helping out
the lady who asked for advice, since she had dirty blonde hair and I
figured she'd need a lighter shade than me, but the two lightest shades
seemed so strange. Like, both of them seemed light enough to be foundations. Although I might have discounted them too soon: my lovely reader Reneé (gorgeous, pale, light blonde) went to check out the eyebrow creams after I'd recommended it, and she bought Arbor Taupe. It looks amazing and perfect on her, so I guess I was wrong about the lighter shades: great for blondes! Go check it out if you're pale and find it hard to find the right eyebrow product.
The two darkest shades, Vamp Brown (warm) and Triptych Coal (cool) convinced me straight away. And even though Triptych Coal is dark, it has some versatility: you can use a heavy hand or a light one to create a more intense finish, or a more natural effect that also works with lighter complexions and hair colours. My sister is very pale and she currently has light blue hair, and Triptych Coal looks great on her. To illustrate, this is a picture of both of us wearing it.
thanks for the pic, Renée!

Versatile, huh? Definitely a product I can wholeheartedly recommend. Just be sure you use a small, stiff angled brush for application, and blend in carefully because it can look patchy if you don't.
The & Other Stories eyebrow cream is available online and in stores, and retails for 12€. Go check it out!
