Converse All Stars: Iconic. Not a lot of brands or items achieve this sort of status, but all of them wish they could. I got my first pair of Converse when I was 14 years old. I found them in the attic, they were an old pair discarded by one of my brothers that I had grown into: hand-me-downs, so to speak. But I loved them like they were new, or even more than if they had been new. I immediately knew how awesome they were because I had seen cool boys and girls wear them in movies and on MTV, and they carried within themselves the promise of making me a bit cooler as well.
Those red hi-tops are no longer with us, sadly, I wore them all the way down to shoe heaven. But since then I have always owned at least one pair of All Stars. I bought the ones I'm wearing here about 5 years ago when I was saving up for University, working long days in retail. They've seen cleaner days, but iconic items just get better with age. I don't wear my trusty sneaks as much as I used to, but I still like to take them out for a spin now and then.
