Travel: California diaries - Joshua Tree Park

I still have so much California content to share with you guys, so today's post will show you some impressions from our visit to Joshua Tree Park. I had wanted to visit the park since, even though we're not exactly hiking enthusiasts, I have a thing for desert like scenery. I remember visiting the south of Spain with my family in my early teens, which was the only holiday we ever went on, and I made a trip to the desert of Almeria and I absolutely loved it. Such a feeling of being removed from daily life, almost like walking on the moon, and that overpowering heat makes for a very humbling experience. Many of the spaghetti Westerns were filmed in southern Spain rather than the Wild West, so I expected a similarly breathtaking impact.

And Joshua Tree Park definitely delivered. Since we had a long drive to get there (and to get back) we couldn't fully explore the park, but the further we drove in, the more the rock formations seemed like they had been carefully arranged by some ancient civilization, or some deity. The weather was great btw, while temperatures were around 30°C, there was a very pleasant cooling breeze that made a short hike very bearable, even for hiking n00bs like us. Obviously I had carefully picked out this dress to wear because it has this perfect desert flower vibe. Experiences are even cooler if I feel like I'm dressed to fit in as a part of it all.

Joshua Tree Park is one of the many stunning places of natural beauty that California has to offer, and I'm happy I got to experience it. I would love to return and see the sun set here, and more specifically admire those legendary star studded night skies! Because of the lack of light polution, the nights are supposed to be spectacular here. I've vouched to see those skies one day - hopefully sooner rather than later.
