EXCITING NEWS

See how happy I look? It's not just because the sun is shining or because I'm wearing some really fab fitting jeans. I have some very amazing news to share. My stomach simultaneously dropped and exploded into a million butterflies when I got the email. 

The email that told me I had been granted the chance to pursue a doctorate. 

More specifically, I'll be doing research on the internalized sexual objectification of young adolescents and the possible relationship with the type of media content they consume. Which is PRETTY much the opportunity I've been dreaming of for the last three years. 

I remember being in my first year at university and getting the assignment to write out a research proposal. My proposal was a longitudinal (long term) in depth research on the way young adolescent girls use media to develop a sexual identity. Need I say more? It feels like this opportunity was handcrafted by the gods themselves to fall into my lap. Suffice to say, I've been riding a high of feminist fate mixed with glitter and rainbows. 

I haven't shared the news with everyone yet, but having a blog (or facebook) is very convenient in times like these. So HEY everyone! I'm incredibly happy and wanted to share it with all of you! Wish me loads of luck. I'm not sure if I'll need it, but sharing the happiness feels so good.
