I remember a sunny Saturday afternoon shopping with my boyfriend, walking into Les Soeurs - a gorgeous concept store I had just discovered - and stumbling upon this divine lobster print dress that completely captivated me. A little while later, I discovered that the dress (and that gorgeous print) were by Fabienne Chapot, a relatively new Dutch brand that has had me head over heels ever since. A brand that is unapologetically bright and playful while still being feminine, grown up and elegant, checking basically all of my aesthetic boxes.

I sadly didn't manage to snap up any of the lobster print pieces during the sales (my size was gone in the blouse I really wanted), so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I was contacted by the brand for an amazing opportunity to work with Fabienne Chapot for Pride week. The brand has designed a Dare To Love capsule collection that revolves heavily around this rainbow lightning bolt print, making a statement about the power of love and our responsibility to stand up for those who aren't yet free to love who they want to love. I love when aesthetics and a powerful message come together so perfectly. This dress is my favourite piece, but there's also a shirt and a unisex tee.

Fabienne Chapot is an Amsterdam based brand, which makes its link with the LGBTQ movement intuitive and necessary. The Amsterdam Pride is an amazing event (which I attended back in 2012), my family is largely from Amsterdam, and LGBTQ rights are very close to my heart as a feminist. Also, I'm crazy about anything rainbow stripe printed, so yeah, the collaboration was basically meant to be!

I have known my own adversity in love, falling in love with someone twice my age, overcoming prejudice in both of our social circles as well as our own fears and doubts. But love is never wrong if you love fully and earnestly and get the same in return. Also, always make your partner take cheesy pictures with you even though it might feel awkward at first. The goofy shots are the most fun, and you'll be so happy when you see the result: visual proof of your bond. Especially when you find a rainbow wall to pose in front of.

Love is all!
