While I used to think that a simple moisturizer was enough, skincare has become a passion of mine over the past few years. Of course, you shouldn't expect miracles from skincare (you're never going to get a result from a cream that you might get from fillers or botox, if that's what you're after), but as someone who spends quite some time staring at their face while playing with makeup and editing pictures, I've come to notice the small but significant changes made by particular types of skincare.
Today, I'll be talking about Clinique's Fresh Pressed regime, which is basically a 7 day plan that uses vitamin C to clarify your skintone and increase your natural glow. I tried a vitamin C based skincare routine last year when I tested Auriga's Flavo C range, but I wasn't entirely convinced by the result. However, when I received this adorable mason jar filled with Clinique goodies, I was inspired to give the idea another go. Especially when reading the claims!
- cell renewal is boosted from the first use
- your complexion should look brighter after only one use, and after a week of daily application, your skin will be more even, smoother and firmer
- after four weeks, hyperpigmentation should be reduced by about 20% (no idea how they measure this though), and fine lines and wrinkles have reduced by 30%
- after 12 weeks of contnued use, hyperpigmentation has reduced by 30%, and wrinkles by 40%.
Sounds pretty impressive! I only used the product for 7 days, so let's see if we can see those claimed end results.

No makeup no filter, lots of derpface.
The 7 day Fresh Pressed regime encompasses two products. First, the daily booster with pure vitamin C. You shake the bottle well for about 15 seconds before use, and then you add two drops of this product to your moisturizer, applied in the morning and at night before bed. 7 days after starting a bottle of this product, the vitamin C becomes unstable and you're supposed to throw it out. Vitamin C is notoriously difficult to stabilize in skincare, that's not an issue typical to Clinique.

Second, there's these little bags of Fresh Pressed renewing powder cleanser. You use this before your moisturizer, after removing your makeup (or in the morning): first you tear open the parcel and pour the powder into your hand, and then you add a tiny bit of water. Rub your hands together to allow the powder to lather up, and apply the mixture to your face. Let the foam sit for about a minute, and rinse thoroughly. You'll immediately feel like your skin is a bit "tighter", and it will look super glowy.
So much derface.
OK, but what does 7 days of following the Fresh Pressed regime look like? Let's take a look.

OK so the difference isn't huge, but I have definitely noticed a change. For one, my complexion does seem brighter, and a bit lighter overall. Second, and most notable, my skin has become SUPER glowy. It's difficult to capture in pictures, but my skin seems to catch the light in a way that it didn't do before starting the Fresh Pressed challenge.
This close-up shot shows the glow a bit better, focus on my cheekbone and the bridge of my nose and see how those areas reflect more light now? I absolutely noticed the difference, and what's better, it's been almost a month since I finished the 7 day regime and my skin is still super glowy. I've also been using Kiehl's Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream, which is also supposed to boost radiance, so that might have contributed to the result as well. Either way, my skin feels hydrated and looks radiant, so the Fresh Pressed line gets thumbs up for me based on this little 7 day trial.
The 7 day Fresh Pressed regime costs about €27, not cheap but for vitamin C based skincare, it's pretty much par for the course. Worth a try if your skin needs a boost of radiance.
