I think that if I had to name the items I've worn the most over the past few warm months, it has to be my Birks, my Levi's shorts and this maxi dress. And to think that I wasn't 100% sure about any of those pieces when I bought them! The Birkenstocks, I doubted whether they'd be as comfortable as everyone was claiming they were (they are). The Levi's, I actually bought when they were still full-length, full on mom jeans. I was planning on cutting them off, but it was kind of hard to guess how they'd fit after the needed alterations. And this maxi dress... I mean, it's kind of amazing and awful at the same time, you know? A shapeless sack that ends around my ankles, it's not exactly the most flattering garment. But the fabric is so flowy and light, the print reminds me of seafoam, and the back keeps me cool in the summer heat. I keep reaching for it because it's just the ideal piece to throw on without giving it a single thought when it's too hot to think about style.
These pictures were snapped in Orange, another town we visited during our time in France. Orange boasts an ancient theatre dating back to the first century AD, one of the best preserved Roman theatres in the world. During the summer, it hosts an opera festival which I would have loved to attend: not that I'm a huge opera buff, but it would be amazing to see a full show in this théâtre antique. We didn't feel like paying the fee to enter the building because the heat was getting to us and my boyfriend couldn't muster another set of stairs, but I didn't want to call it a day just yet and started exploring the little streets surrounding the theatre. After struggling my way up through the heat, climbing the stairs you see in my outfit shots, I found a little path up the hill through the woods that led to a gorgeous view into the théâtre. Sometimes, exploring pays off!
