Make Up Routine Update: Wearable Pinks

My make up routine is always in flux. In the past I've had periods of doing all sorts of daily looks: retro cat eyeliner, red lips, pink lips, soft smokey eyes, nude lips, bright eyeshadow etc etc. I don't really have a "me" look that I always go for, except for the fact that I always always always draw in my eyebrows because I don't have any real eyebrows myself. Right now, I'm all about a really soft, romantic look in wearable pinks that allow your own features to take centre stage.

I like to keep you up to date when it comes to my make up routine and I obviously hope you like reading about what I put on my face. Check out my previous make up routines here and here. I'm not going to talk about the things that haven't changed that much, i.e. my foundation which is Maybelline's BB cream, and my brows which I shape with an eyebrow pencil and fil in with eyeshadow. Let me introduce you to my new, current faves!

Like I said: soft, shimmery, pink but not in-your-face pink. Very wearable, especially if you are a fair brunette. Pinks look OSSUM on us, yo. From left to right: The Body Shop shimmery blush/highlighter duo, The Body Shop make up brushes (big and medium), a Park Avenue eyeshadow palette with lilac, pink and pearly white shades, and my Hema True Mineral Loose Powder to finish everything off.

One item I haven't pictured is the new lilac lipstick (180 Meet Violeta) I picked up at Catrice. It works so well with this pink look that I just had to include it.

The lipstick looks very purple and so does the swatch, but on the lips it looks like a very pretty, frosty pink. Yeah, ultra 90s, but I think it is actually super wearable as long as it blends in with the rest of your make up. Glam, but quite subtle.

This Park Avenue eyeshadow palette is great. The white is the perfect base for any make up look because it makes other colours super bright when you layer them over the white, and it has great staying power. My swatches suck, but just take my word on it. I usually swipe the white from the inner corners of my eye up to the middle, and I use the two middle pink shades for the outer corners of my eyes. The goal is not to get a bright, statement eye, but to get a clean and flattering end result that makes the green in my eyes pop.

The brushes and the blush are from The Body Shop and I would recommend them all the way. They were all birthday gifts from my sister, I've been using them everyday since! The blush is a beautiful pink in a shade that I think would suit both warm and cool skintones, and it leaves your cheeks looking rosy and beautifully shimmery. Pearlescent, almost! I had been dreaming of a beautiful shimmery blush since forever, I feel super summery when I wear it. The highlighter is great for use on your brow bone, or wherever you want some soft shimmer.

I've been using this loose mineral powder for about two years now I think, and I still love it as much as I did the first day. This is only my second pot and I use it every day, so it lasts you ages! You just shake the pot to get some powder through the holes, swipe the powder on your brush and dust it all over your face after all the other sections of your make up are finished. It pulls everything together, gives you a healthy glow and makes small flaws less noticeable. Sort of like a mega blender like you use for your eyeshadow, but FOR YOUR FACE. During the summer, I often skip on foundation or BB cream and just dust this mineral powder over my face after applying my moisturizer. Great for a very natural, dewy finish.

And that's the finished end result! The look I've been currently favouring. YOU LIKE? What is the make up look you've been rocking this summer?
