I bought this plaid coat for 8 euro at T2. Yep, seriously. A perfectly fitting plaid wintercoat for the price of cheap lunch, can't pass up on that now can ya? I sort of disliked how the colors in my outfit blended into the background, but Tieka does that all the time and it looks awesome so I'm just gonna go ahead and pretend like it was on purpose!
My master thesis subject got approved people! I'm writing on... wait for it....
Guessed it yet? Noooo not fashion or blogs, that would be too obvious!

YES LADY GAGA! I'm studying the layers of the phenomenon that is Gaga, and the way different types of fans attribute meaning to her work. Because she's an awesome icon of postmodernism that blurs the line between high culture and low culture and because I wub her. COOL RIGHT? I really hope my thesis ends up being epic, would be such a beautiful conclusion to four beautiful years. UNI I LOVE YOU
t-shirt, socks: Pimkie

Great outfit, and that coat is awesome, wicked find.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is just so dreamy! Love the plaid on plaid so so pretty
ReplyDeleteI love your coat and for that price I'm amazed! You were very lucky!
ReplyDeleteAlso what an incredible thesis title!I would have never imagined that Lady Gaga is worth having a dissertation on! :)

Zeker de case study van Jamie Anderson ‘Lady Gaga: Born this way?' checken dan! :)
ReplyDeleteI loove those socks & good luck with your thesis! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm sure your thesis will be epic, and written in your own special style : ) You're gonna share extracts with us as you work, right?
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, plaid on plaid is one of my most favouritest things... I think I even managed three plaids some time last winter. I love that first picture!
This even looks like the perfect uni outfit!! Best of luck with your thesis the subject is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the colors in your outfit blend into the background at all. That coat sounds like a great deal
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coat!

I like the irony in this outfit! The combination Sex Pistols - traditional plaid skirt made me smile. Your pose in the second picture too. I probably shouldn't say this, but it kind of looks like you have to pee. ^^ In a very cute way, obviously.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the thesis! Beginning is always the hardest, but once you got that down, I'm sure motivation and stress will take care of the rest. Cool subject, too. Perfect for procrastinating, by the way, because you can watch endless series of youtube videos and claim you're doing research. I should've thought of that.
haha I'm the most photogenic pee-er in the whole darn world, lemme tell ya! :D
ReplyDeleteYesss double plaid!! I am loving this skirt and the jacket together, so wonderful with the tee and knee high socks. I love that you kind of blend into the background it's pretty!

Only you can make a punk tee look so damn chic. Have I ever told you that I look to you for style inspiration? You and Another Day To Dress Up.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! And you need to stop finding such awesome deals!!!! :p
ReplyDeleteThat's quite an interesting thesis topic too! Congrats on it being approved :)

Lovely! These are great photos. I love your oxfords a lot and your Sex Pistols tee is so cool! <3
ReplyDeleteOkay, first off, *fist pump* for fabulous finds that cost as much as a cheap lunch. (And this is why I frequently... don't eat lunch!! haha.) Love the tongue in cheek tee paired with a midi hemline and traditional plaids. Good work, sister.
ReplyDeleteSecondly: You are doing your thesis on LADY GAGA???? WOMAN!!!! I am so glad I keep popping in here. Just the little couple sentences you dropped on the subject have me excited. I look at her in much the same way: an icon of postmodernism; perhaps the farthest in that direction it is possible to go. And her cult-like following deserves some analysis. I like how you said she blurs the line between high and low culture; it is so true, and in a postmodern society, I think perhaps that "blurred" reality is the thing most sought after.
I should add that, personally, I dislike her music. Intensely. (Although, I did do a little film project on domestic abuse set to her stuff, and it turned out perfectly... ) In fact, I do not support her because she embodies many things I cannot stand by as a Christian: Human depravity. Rebellion. Selfish pleasure. These are things I hope post modern society can be freed from, not "freed" into, if that makes sense. However, as an artist, I can understand the nature of her work and the insanity of her mind.
Wellllll I really hope I did not just become your scariest reader! I'm never usually this vocal online... but I just love your blog so much and I just got so excited!!!! Anyways. Still bloggy friends?
Love and kudos. :)
I love this fall rock tee w/skirt look! gotta remember to do that...
ReplyDeletealso, I'm so happy for you approaching the light at the end of the academic tunnel so to speak, I love Lady Gaga too and what a fun fun paper to write! Mine was on dystopic fiction haha, not so happy ;)

I love getting a comment like this so don't worry, i'm not freaked out! I do like her music though, especially her more Springsteen inspired stuff on Born This Way. And I am not a christian, so I'm not hindered by those themes. I love her for setting her own rules, but not overly explaining herself and her motives. She decides what is beautiful instead of playing along, she represents freedom and enthusiasm to me :)
ReplyDeleteMooie jas & SUPER thesisonderwerp - wie is je promotor?

ReplyDeleteWell I basically did my Master thesis on Madonna, so you on Lady Gaga why the heck not hehehehehe. So sorry I haven't been visiting your site my lovely, but my life is complete chaos right now :( However, loved to take a peek and see that you are as usual collecting amazing bargains, I mean, EIGHT??? EIGHT?? eight freackin euro for a cute coat like that??? you are my idol, my dear, you simply are the best at finding the deals. Next time I'm in Antwerp, you are taking me shopping with you xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThat's certainly an interesting topic to write your thesis on! I'm sure you--or anyone reading it--won't lose interest, so that's a plus! What do you study again?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love the outfit, gurl. I love plaid. I also like the combination of plaid + punk band tee. I'm planning to do it this week.
That skirt is ah-maze! Totally a new fan of your fab blog. Good luck on your thesis!
ReplyDeleteYou're writing a thesis on Lady Gaga & Jessie did on Madonna, what the efff why did I not study in Europe!? Gah, mine was a 100 page long business plan/analysis of renewable energy in the nanotechnology sector... although fortunately I got to choose the user group, Native Americans living on reservations, so that part was fascinating & super useful/important/peaked my interest & aspirations for my shop now, so not all bad I guess. Anyway, beyond the point, this coat is so amazing, love the colors & the plaid, you're just so stylishly retro!
ReplyDeleteOh, & almost forgot, it actually looks great how the colors sorta blend w/ the scenery. esp love the sitting down pic of you too.
ReplyDeleteyour thesis sounds interesting too though! and relevant, that's important you know. Thanks! :D
ReplyDeleteAh - heel goede promotor!
ReplyDeleteJe mag zeker een mailtje sturen als je vast zit - ook als je nog wat literatuurtips nodig hebt
