Hiya! Dropping in for another beauty review ;-) Today I'll be discussing Urban Decay's summer eyeshadow palette: the Beached palette. I'm not much of a fan of seasonal palettes because I generally use the same shades year-round, but I do enjoy the type of palette that you'd take with you on holiday abroad. You know, a palette that contains shades that will take you from day to night and are super easy to use: one or two shades applied with a brush or even your fingertips, and done? That's all I take with me when I step on an airplane to some far-away location. Is the UD Beached palette that palette? Let's find out!
On first glance, I love the shade collection: warm neutral/gold tones, some ocean blue shades for when you're feeling funky, and a deep brown if you want to smoke it out. One thing I had some doubts about was that the blue shades aren't the easiest to wear - if I were to put together my own travel palette, blue would not be part of the equation. But I like to keep things simple on holiday and all of the other shades are 100% up my alley, so I don't mind that much. Either way, the most important thing here is quality, so let's get swatching!
Can I say wow? WOW! Literally every shade here is beautifully pigmented in just one swipe, and I am especially enamored with the two lightest shades: Salt and Blaze. Salt is a beautiful metallic beige (perrrrfect neutral highlight), and Blaze is this super light peachy beige with a pink duochrome sheen. Very fun product to play around with! I also love the matte shade, Daybreak, which is a gorgeous warm, peachy terracotta type shade. I definitely see myself having a lot of fun with this range of shades.
I created two looks for you guys. Bare in mind that the first was shot at the end of the day after most of my makeup had already deteriorated from a full day at the office, so that's why I look a bit knackered in comparison to my usual blog posts.
Can you say L.O.V.E.? I used Salt in the inner corner, Blaze from the inner corner throughout the middle of the lid, and Heatwave + Wedge in the outer corner and under the eye. And of course I blended Daybreak through the crease. I love this type of look, smouldering and warm but still very wearable. And Blaze really brings life to any makeup look because of its lovely duochrome effect.
For my second look, I took it upon me to use those blue shades I was a bit intimidated (but also intrigued) by. I kept the blue as an accent colour by applying Salt all over the lid for a brightening effect, and blending in the two blue shades in the outer corner and into the crease, as well as underneath the eye.
The eyeshadows all perform beautifully and last well throughout the day. I could take or leave the blue shades, but the other ones are all just perfect for a summer/holiday palette. Thumbs up!
