In the weeks before Christmas, I received a package containing some new additions to & Other Stories' makeup line. Everyone knows I can't walk out of an & Other Stories shop without buying something (or a lot of things), so I like to stay up to date with their collection. Today I will be reviewing their complete face palette in Anadem Mosaic- €15, their lip pencil in Noeud Cassis - €9, their chubby lip pencil in Bouillonné Truffle - €15 and their perfume oil in Sardonyx fire - €15.
Swatches!
From left to right: Bouillonné Truffle, Noued Cassis and the four shades in the Anadem Mosaic palette. At first I thought that the silver pan in the Anadem Mosaic palette would contain silver product, but it's actually a clear gloss! I was pleasantly surprised by that fact, since it seemed to seriously expand the range of possibilities to use this palette.
Sardonyx Fire is an incredibly rich fragrance built on wild vanilla, amber and rosy florals. You only need to use a tiny amount since the perfume is quite strong, and yet the scent remains close to the body instead of projecting around you. The tiny bottle makes this perfect to keep in your purse as a little pick me up when you need a hint of sweetness.
The chubby lip pencil in Bouillonné Truffle is a super on-trend shade, somewhere between mauve and greige. Pale, very wearable, perfect coverage and a lovely satin-matte finish.
I think it would look lovely with a slightly darker, browner lipliner to create that perfect 90s soft ombre lip, chic and sexy.
Noeud Cassis is a dark purple shade which fills a clear gap in my makeup collection. I don't wear a dark lipcolour that often in my daily life, and I know exactly why: they are very high maintenance. Not just the upkeep, but also applying it neatly. I don't know why, but I never seem to have the right shade of lip pencil lying around, and a dark lip requires using a lip pencil. This one will be put to good use!
Finally, the Anadem Mosaic full face palette. A matte cranberry red, a metallic gold, a creamy petal pink and a clear gloss/gell formula to mix and layer for a range of looks. The combination of shades is unexpected, but very fun to play around with and quite on-trend.
Here, I used Noeud Cassis as a liner, MAC Liptensity in Double Fudge as a lipstick, and the gold shade of the Anadem Mosaic palette patted on top for a sort of duochrome metallic finish. Love it!
And here is my full look using the full face palette: I used the cranberry red shade messily patted on the eyelid, with the clear gloss layered over it to create a grungy, vampy look. As a finishing touch, I applied the petal pink as a highlighter on my cheekbones. Slightly out of my comfort zone, but I actually love how the look came together and wore it all day afterwards. The glossy eye makeup always gets a bit messy after a while, but that's just part of its grungy appeal.
Another range of lovely products by & Other Stories - nice design, trendy colours and great performance at a moderate price point.
