As much as people generally see me as someone who favors skirts and dresses, I feel like I've been rediscovering the joy of trousers lately. It's something I experience every year near the end of the colder months: I get sick of wearing tights and skinny jeans, which can make me feel like I'm constricted by fabric. For some reason, having a bit of space/air between the fabric of trousers and my legs feels more comfortable, more carefree, like the last vestige before actually going bare-legged. Last year I picked up some loose fitting trousers from s. Oliver which were great for the office, and this year I've been expanding my collection with different silhouettes, like this high waisted pair of flares from H&M.
Usually I like my wide legged trousers to have a longer hemline so I can pair them with heels for elongating wow-factor, but these are short enough to stick with flats without ruining the hems. I love how the combination of the flares with converse reminds me of the kind of outfits I used to wear in my early highschool days, back in 1999-2003. There was this short stretch of britpop inspired 70s revival going on back then, with retro sportswear and flares and baby tees, and flares + sneakers was kind of my signature look back then.
Hope you like the look!
