This dress was basically screaming my name when I spotted it in the Forever21 webshop. It's totally unpractical, and I'll probably get hardly any wear out of it (I mean, where does one wear a semi-sheer, unlined, stark white maxi dress?), but it was 100% cotton, just 20€ and so, so gorgeous. I knew it would be really flattering on me, and it filled my mind with visions of looking like a bohemian queen, so I just went for it. We're all allowed some ridiculous purchases from time to time, and this one makes me really happy.
It took some effort to find what I could wear under it, though, because it is pretty sheer. At first I was looking for a slip dress, but they were all too long or too covered up on top, so in the end I settled for nude underwear. And then the second part of the struggle begun: most nude underwear is, like, not at all the colour of (my) skin. Luckily I found a nearly perfect match in Sloggi's light cotton short in caramel, and now I can finally wear the dress. This baby probably caused me a lot more trouble than it was worth, but I'm still happy I have it. It was the perfect piece to swan around in during the current heatwave, making me feel like I was dressed for Coachella even if I was just going grocery shopping. Sometimes life needs that bit of extra (ridiculous) glamour. It's not THAT sheer in real life, by the way, the bright sunlight just made it seem so, but I can appreciate the slightly scandalous look.
