My latest obsession is the product of years and years of lusting after bright eyeshadow. From the iconic blue eyeshadow looks I associate with sixties babes like Anna Karina to spunky pink shades I've adored since I saw Gwen Stefani rocking them in the Ex-Girlfriend videoclip, I've always been a big fan of punchy looks. My baby sis is like, the queen of bright eye make up, and she has majorly motivated me to take a chance (take a chance take a take a chance chance). I ordered the E.L.F. 100 eyeshadow palette online because seriously, you hardly find loads of bright, affordable shades in stores and this one is cheap AND looks pretty amazing. I can recommend it to all of you who feel like experimenting with their look a bit!
Anyway, I've been having a lot of fun playing around with the palette, and here is the result of my labor:
First, a basic, simple look suitable for everyday wear. For this one, I just used some of the green shades on my eyelids, focusing the darker shades in the outer corners of my eyes and the crease. I finished it off with a very light dusting of orange at the inner corners. This looks very subtle yet fresh and springy: great for those who don't want to look too made up.
Second, the blue look inspired by sixties stewardesses. People always go on and on about how blue doesn't suit hazel eyes, but I say FEH! I shall wear whatever shade I want! And I personally think this looks gorgeous. I used bright blues over my entire eyelid, and some darker blue in the outer corner of my eye. I used a tiny bit of green in the inner corner. Blending and messing it up a bit is key! I find that some pencil along my lashes and a good dose of mascara is the best finish for every look, and a strong brow + a cute lip shade make sure your entire face speaks rather than having your eyes be the only focal point.
Third, my fave: PINK! Light shades all over my upper eyelid (all the way up to my brow) and darker, bright pink in the outer corners. This one has to be finished with some pencil or even eyeliner on your upper eyelid, and a bit of pencil on the lower eyelid as well, otherwise your eye might just look bruised.
I really like how the blue brings out the brown in my eyes, while the pink brings out the green. Don't be daunted by eyeshadow, people! I used to hate the way it looked on me, and now I can't get enough. Just messing around with it a bit and getting used to the way your face looks with eyeshadow will open up a world of fun possibilities for you. If you want tips, google is your friend! Here is a simple bit of info about the basics. Now go and paint yo faces!
What look is your fave? :-D
Great looks, especially the blue one! The green really suits your hair well, if that makes any sense :). Love to see you doing makeup!

ReplyDeleteI really love the pink look! I've been going rather mad with eyeshadow myself lately, and would go even madder if I didn't have an office job haha. I recently ordered some mineral makeup from etsy, a bunch of little sample sizes, I can't wait to get those and start fooling around.
ReplyDeleteI love that!! I need to order one asap.
ReplyDeleteWauw, echt leuk!
