I know I know, I look like Urban Outfitters vomited all over me. AND I'M LOVING IT! Very British, androgynous and hipster-vintage in that whole "Oh these grandpa trousers? No not vintage, actually bought them new for way too much money last week" because yeah, that's what the Urban Outfitters aesthetic is all about. Not to dis UO though, that store has amazing pieces and styling, I just find the whole trend of old fashioned stuff you can find at thrift stores for a fiver being sold for at least ten times that amount at hip stores a wee bit ironic. Boys and girls: CHECK your local second hand sources, there are TREASURES to be found for next to no money, every piece is unique and you're not causing any harm to the environment: everyone's a winner. I saw sweaters like these being sold in the UO sales for 35 euros. Got mine for 2. Easy choice, no?
My favorite nailpolish trend these days is WITHOUT a doubt the glitter ombre. Easypeasy and hellacute. Gold and pink is a gorgeous combination but I'm keen on trying this cheapie chunky gold glitter on greens and blues as well. No reds though, or I'll just mourn the fact that Christmas will be gone for another year everytime I look at my nails :-(
STUDYTIME now! Lots of stuff to do. Hope you enjoyed your weekend! I sure did, most of my free time was spent cuddling and laughing with my boyfriend. Don't you just love those days where you feel like you're in the early stages of your relationship again? Ah l'amour!
Yeay for ugly gifs
ReplyDeletehahahaha ik ben gek op dat boek EN op lelijke clip art: CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with everything you said up here and liking the outfit very much.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how to do the nails, btw. Is this just random glitter you then put a transparent layer above?
Wonderful pictures and style, as always:D
ReplyDeletestarted with a gold toned pink polish and just brushed some chunky glitter polish on the ends of my nails, spreading it out a bit to get the ombre effect, and ending with a top coat!
ReplyDeleteWat een leuke outfit, heel erg fijne trui!
ReplyDeleteTopoutfit! Mooie kleuren en inderdaad, very UO.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about Urban Outfitters, as nice as the clothes look! And I love your jumper and trousers !

ReplyDeleteCute!

ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on UO, that's why I stalk items to buy during the sales, hehe.
ReplyDeleteYou look awesome, a perfect weekend outfit :)
ReplyDeleteI love cords, I like woods, and I'm quite partial to your hat too! Also loving the nailpolish... I've been doing the old glitter on some random nails on top of colour thing, but hadn't thought to do ombre. Definitely on the list!
ReplyDeletehaha i know exactly what you mean about UO, i saw a lovely cream skirt with lace there for 60+ bucks and a month or so later i saw one at a thrift store for 3 dollars that was even cuter!
ReplyDeletei do love these pants and booties on you though.
xx
I'm really loving how laid back and cool this outfit is. Those pants are fantastic and I really enjoy your sweater too. I totally agree with looking for stuff in the thrift store. I tend to look at Urban Outfitters lookbooks and then look for similar pieces at the thrift store. Much cheaper!
ReplyDeleteI love you in mustard pants. Blogger study buddies!
ReplyDeleteRight, that does it. Next time someone asks me to describe my style, "like Urban Outfitters vomited all over me" will most definitely be my response haha. But I completely agree about the overpriced "vintage-inspired" thing they have going on. I don't understand why you would want to pay more for something because it looks old when you can get the real thing so much cheaper.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit! You look amazing :D And I love your nails, its so fun! I should try it sometime :)

OH I love this outfit!! :D
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater so much! I can't wait till it gets cold again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fashion paradox: the outfit and the nail polish!!! I always love fashion paradoxes because it makes you unique! Gorgeous sweater but you already know that I am fan of those sweaters
ReplyDeleteI use to work for UO for quite some time and I would be astounded how much they sold some things for. Especially for the quality and super especially for what they were selling the "urban renewal" vintage/upcycled pieces for. But I have to admit... I do love flipping through their catalogs and I sure do miss their penny sales/employee discount.
ReplyDeleteHigh-five for calling out the UO rip-offs! I totally feel the same way every time I go into that shop. I am more likely to walk out of there with an interesting piece for my house or a funny book or novelty item rather than a clothing piece. If people are too lazy to thrift or don't care about price-point then UO is the place to go I suppose. Love the boyish outfit and how you add in the girlie deets! It's almost weird to see you in pants like that though... xoxo
ReplyDeleteHahaha you're so right about UO :) really really overpriced (but beautiful stuff - which sometimes makes it hard to resist). I love your grandpa look!
ReplyDeleteDamn, UO vomit sure is adorable.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sometimes I feel like a chump buying things at Urban, cause you know you could find it second hand. But honestly sometimes I just don't have/want to invest the time! And that's how they make their money...via my laziness, haha.
I love this look, btw. Androgyny FTW!
Oh, je nagels zijn echt mooi gedaan!
ReplyDeleteSucces!
Bedankt voor de tips :)
ReplyDeleteYou look SO adorable, and I love your fingernails! Your nails always remind me that I should probably actually do something to mine. :D
ReplyDeletefirst of all- YAY SECONDHAND SHOPPING!! & go Annebeth for promoting it!! You already know I couldn't agree more so that's that, & def ironic about "the cost of being hip" haha. well.. unless you're as hip as us ; ) You look absolutely adorable! I love how you look so great in the androg look & then equally great in a big full dress like above : )

Goodness, that sweater is great! I love the print. This outfit is lovely. xo
ReplyDeleteYeah, I always found it really weird that people are willing to pay tons of money for reproductions of what can be found for cheap in a thrift store already. Or someone will pay $200 for a retro clothing item when you could have gotten an original vintage piece of better quality for less with a little more digging (which hey is way more fun anyway). My queer women's social group would just eat you up dressed like that XD
