Dark Woods and some Reading

It was getting pretty dark when these pictures were taken, but I actually like how moody and grainy these shots are. Also, my last outfit from before I dyed my ends blue: THE END OF AN ERA

sweater: ASOS
skirt, beret: Think Twice vintage
coat: H&M
tights: Pimkie
shoes: Kimchi & Blue via Urban Outfitters

I've been reading a lot today during my study breaks, mainly about politics. I especially liked this piece, an interview with Chantal Mouffe and Ernesto Laclau about democracy and political activism. Not the most light or entertaining reading material, but very intellectually inspiring. If you want something a bit more easy to digest, here's a cute piece on gender. I'm totally pro unisex public restrooms btw.

Some rape joke pages have been removed at last after months of complaints, and Facebook has issued an apology about removing the abortion tips, but this still totally squicks me out. Rape society at its best.

  2. Facebook society makes me insane, but because so many people use it its practically impossible to escape (I deleted it for a year, but it killed my social life bc people only send FB invites now). GRR. And their censorship of what they will and won't keep up?! Makes me insane.

    ANYWWWAAAYYY

I am loving that plaid skirt. I have been hunting for a plaid skirt for approximately 100 years (or days...). You look so autumnal.

  3. I hate FB too but you just can't escape it. I have family abroad and friends all over the country, fb is so much easier to keep in touch with everyone...

  12. I love this outfit! You pull off the colored tights look very well. I've always shied away from non-black tights.

  13. Have you seen the articles about the Siri app and rape culture? http://scatx.com/2011/11/27/rape-culture-meet-siri/
    It's revolting!

  14. Yep, I've read some. On one hand it's true siri has a male voice in some countries, on the other hand it's still true the internet is a very male centric place. Sad.

  15. I'm very pro-unisex restrooms too. Men always look so strange when I put on hairspray ;-)

No but seriously, when we go on a trip with school for example, I get a room with other boys. But to all of us, it's quite embarassing. It would be better for everyone if they just let me sleep in a girls room.

It's good that you show us some other interests, next to fashion.
And I like the outfit, of course.

  16. but it's actually quite silly either way: it's not like you'll be jumping those boys just because you are gay! Everything should be mixed, it's completely ridiculous how our society keeps trying to maintain binary gender categories while we are all people with varying degrees of femininity or masculinity.

we had a gay guy in our class and he could choose where he slept, usually he got a smaller room with one or two of his friends. Is your school unwilling to negotiate? You'd think they'd put your interest first...

  17. Well, I don't want to be the trouble-guy. This year I'm graduating, so next year the troubles will be gone.

  18. :) stand up for yourself! you'll find people won't make as much of a deal out of it if you make it clear to them where you stand :) go you!

  19. Haha don't understand me wrong, I do stand up for myself! People at school knwo who I am and what I stand for. I'm not afraid to discuss certain subjects and I claim the rights I should get.

  22. Your nails look so cool! I was actually thinking about doing mine the same way before I even saw this post. Maybe sometime in the near future. This pleated skirt is super cute with the red tights and sweater too. Very schoolgirl chic.
