Alpine Green All The Way

So yeah, after dyeing my ends teal and looking at myself in the mirror time after time (yep, that's what fashion bloggers do all they when they're not blogging about themselves) last night, I decided my hair would be better if ALL of it was dyed teal. And because I still had some dye left, I ran upstairs to the bathroom and just haphazardly lathered it into my roots and lengths, hoping for the best! Luckily, things worked out fine. I had no idea the dye would take on my dark brown hair. My boyfriend thinks I look like I'm wearing a wig now but I don't care if I look a bit insane (I know I sorta do), THIS IS FUN! Now I know what motivates Katy Perry to get up in the morning. I still have to get used to it though, it's quite a big change! And it'll wash out anyway, no commitment ftw.

See my nails? I was wearing a base coat when dyeing my hair, and my nails turned all teal and shiz while washing the dye out and it looks really cool ombre-like and matches my hair, so I covered it with a top coat and called it a day!

coat: H&M
tights, sweater: Pimkie
skirt: Vintage (gift)
shoes: River Island
ring: Alex Monroe

SO what do you think? Weird? Cool? Weird AND cool? But mostly cool right? I just need to figure out which colors work and which don't, I still want to keep my style right in the middle between edgy and cute/polished, a bit of a balancing act! Tips?

  4. Im really loving it!! You are perfectly festive ALL THE TIME now, hahaha. I loved dying my hair crazy colours, except that it got all over my towels/pillows/collars of my clothes. Love the thick red sweater and red skirt, you are so christmassy in the best way

  5. It looks fun!
Curious how it will match with other colors.

Just one thing I noticed: because it is such a strong color, it steals all the attention from your face. It's like I'm distracted by your hair. So (just my opinion) this hair would go nice with bold make-up. So that it is more balanced.

  6. I agree, I am planning on wearing it with winged eyeliner and I usually wear lipstick and a good brow as well. I'll just have to make even more of an effort now! :D

  7. I think it looks awesome with your skin tone (don't think it steals attention from your face at all). I'm glad you went all the way on this... and loving all the red, obviously!

  9. OMG i LOVE it! that 3rd photo is the most amazing thing. i just checked out your previous post and i love the green on your tips too! you MUST tell me what colour you used and where from? Docs definitely take a while getting used too..if you think they make you look short then you can imagine how tiny I look in mine haha. i got my creepers from this ebay seller http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/shoesstore_lee/?_trksid=p4340.l2559
Also how many packets/boxes of dye do you think i'd need?

  15. You seriously work that haircolor. It's AMAZING on you. And you're inspiring me to be brave with my own haircolor. I have been thinking about going brighter red (on the more naturalish side) for quite a while, and seeing you jump in and have the awesome results you do makes me think... I should just go for it. :D

  19. I think it looks great, having it not totally green on the top and fading down to be bright at the ends def does the trick for keeping that balance you speak of! Super fun! & what sort of wash out dye do you use? After going crazy w/ the dark red for about a year I'm generally a wimp to anything permanent but a temp would be fun!

  20. I love the teal & red color palette, never thought of mixing the two before. You have so much fun with your hair, it definitely works with your style! Sadly I'm super boring about my hair, have been itching to change it... maybe you'll be my inspiration! :)

  21. Good luck, but it's fun you know ;) My friend has like platinum blond hair and had colors like pink, purple, blue, all three at the same time, green, black, etc etc All of those non-natural colors and she can do the most amazing make-up without looking like a clown. Just because she has the hair to balance it out. So you should totally take advantage of your awesome hair :D

  23. I am really surprised by how much harder it is to style up an outfit now: make up comes pretty natural but my clothes all match my previes brown-ombre hair and now i'm all kinds of confused and I don't feel like buying an entirely new wardrobe!! ugh :D

  24. Urg yeah that's true.. hmm time to switch into being a beautyblogger? Just kidding ;)
Hmm yeah well I guess that simple/clean outfits would be the best, but that's not really your style. I guess white, black, grey etc with some bold color accents would work pretty well. But also colors like mustard, bright purple, red, etc would work pretty well.. all saturated colors actually.
But you have this neutral, soft, vintage style and so I do feel your problem that a lot of outfits wouldn't work..Nevertheless you should see this as a challenge and I'm curious to see what you will make of it ;)

  25. I figured the same thing, neutrals and simple stuff would be the best with this hair but that's really not my style :( I should have thought things through before dyeing, lol, I'm way too impulsive :D I do have an edge to me but I usually express that edge through my outfits since my hair is just simple, but when I go edgy ALL OUT it's just a bit much :(

  26. Pfew, that first close up picture looks really witchy.. Not in a creepy way though :) I'm sure you'll find the right way to combine your colors, your did it amazingly today anyway!

  27. You look so festive with your almost Christmas colors! The hair is really fun and I like it contrasted with the red in your outfit.

  28. Hi I just wanted to ask you if you bleached your hair before dying it or not since I would love to dye my hair green also and I am a chocolate brown... Will it fade completely or will I still have to dye my hair my natural color when the color flutes out?
    Thank you in advace!

  29. Hi teresa! my roots in these pictures are my own color (or my roots and 2/3ds of my lenghts, since only my ends were bleached) and they did go entirely green, but a very dark green. If you choose a very saturated and dark shade, it will not be a problem to dye over your own haircolor. And depending on the dye you choose (I use directions la riche Alpine Green) it will absolutely wash/fade out quite well to your own natural color!

  30. hello! your hair is stunning! ive been toying with the idea of dying my hair this colour but i dont want to bleach it, how dark was your hair before this? mine is is a very dark brown and im just unsure if it will show up x

    ReplyDelete
  31. The roots and lengths of my hair were a very dark brown (my natural colour), the ends were bleached to a light brown. It will probably show up, but if you use it over natural (unbleached) hair, it washes out mad quickly. And the brightness of the colour will mostly depend on the light you're standing in. Hope this helped! let me know if you have anymore questions :)
