If you were to ask me who my celebrity style icon is, I'd probably have a hard time deciding and then end up deciding on Keira Knightley. No one quite does that romantic, feminine, demure yet fashion forward look quite as well as she does. This pale floral dress is so delicate and feminine, but the slit sleeves and the cape detail in the back make this a standout piece - stunning! This type of cream shade isn't the most classically flattering on my skintone (I look better in whites), it washes me out a bit but in a way, I think it actually works here. Wearing a colour that washes you out a bit can look very sweet and romantic, that English Rose type of look. Very Keira Knightley, again.
See what I mean? Not the most flattering colour on her, but the washing out effect is intentional and totally works for her romantic looks. That's what I was going for here.
Adding the black elements (hat, vest, handbag, tights, shoes) "grounds" the outfit, increasing the contrast and making it a bit more flattering on me.
Hope you like the look!
