I told you that I was anxious to up my style cred after arriving in Japan with a suitcase that was more focused on comfort than on style, and that I fell in love with the culottes every woman seemed to be wearing. We made our way to Uniqlo in Canal City, and I picked up three pairs of culottes - score! I've been wearing the trousers constantly ever since, they really seem to have filled up a void that I didn't know existed in my wardrobe. Culottes just strike that perfect balance between laid back and elegant, depending on how you style them, and the silhouette is still quite rare in Belgium. Safe to say I'm in love.

This particular pair of ultra wide, ankle length culottes makes me feel like a super chic samurai, and they work so well with a simple pair of flat shoes and a crop top. The entire look is very Japanese inspired, especially with the wide brim hat. The Tevas were also something I saw everywhere in Japan (they go perfectly with that sort of utilitarian elegance they like so much), and I was really happy I had brought mine because they were total lifesavers for my poor, plantar fasciitis riddled feet. For once, style and comfort meet!

Have a lovely weekend :-)
