When we got back from California, there were some parcels waiting for me to review, and today I'm showing you the product I was instantly most excited about: the new Dior Addict Lip Tattoo long-wear colored tint. I received the product in two of my favourite everyday shades: 491 Natural Rosewood - a nude/brown tint, and 761 Natural Cherry - a popping pink/red tint. I can already reveal that I have become a fan of the formula, let me tell you why!
Of course, the Dior Lip Tattoo comes in the chic, luxe, sleek packaging we're accustomed to. I mean, if you buy Dior, you're gonna want something that looks pretty as well as performing decently. The smell is also lovely - minty and sweet, like Wilhelmina peppermints! Sweet but not cloyingly so, perfect for summer.
The product applies with a small doefoot applicator, and the formula feels like a runny gel: light, smooth, cool on the lips and moisturizing. After about 20 seconds, the product has fully dried down and is pretty much transfer proof. The gloss stays though, and it doesn't feel dry on the lips either, more like a smooth, balm-type varnish that stays put will still feeling like you can rub your lips together without them getting grainy. Definitely different from your average liquid lipstick, but not a true stain either.
Natural Rosewood looks more like a cinnamon or nutmeg on me - a bit warmer than your average rosewood. Still very wearable, neutral and flattering on a wide range of skintones. This one performed the best out of the two, going on perfectly even in one swipe! The Dior Lip Tattoo does not stain the lips though, and while it stays impeccable and smudge-proof if you refrain from eating or drinking, a few bites will wear off the product immediately. I don't mind, but you have to know what to expect from this product if you're considering it for yourself.
Natural Cherry is also lovely! It's more of a watermelon or coral shade to me, but a name is just a name. The bright colour works perfectly with the glossy finish, shiny like fresh washed fruit. Something I did not expect was that Natural Cherry has some glitter in there. Very fine glitter, you don't feel it on the lips and it's not like you'll end up with discoball lips, but close up you might see some sparkle. Natural Cherry applies a bit more patchy than Natural Rosewood though, but it's not really noticeable in real life. Applying a second layer helps.
If you do the kiss test on the back of your hand about 20 seconds after applying, the only transfer you'll have is from the outlines of your lips - something you'll also notice from most liquid lipsticks. Impressive performance from something that feels so light and moisturizing and looks glossy.
What can I say, the Dior Addict Lip Tattoos are lovely products that will surely be a new favourite to many makeup lovers. They have a lot of similarities to those lip stain/tint/gel type things that are so popular in Asian beauty right now. The Lip Tattoos are easy to (re)apply, hard to mess up, flattering, fresh, and give off a low maintenance vibe - lighter and more natural than the heavy matte liquid lip look (which I also love btw). I have read in reviews that the patchiness of the formula differs from shade to shade, so you'd be best to test these on the lips first because a hand or arm swatch will not give the same result. Just be aware that these do not last through meals, and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed!
The Dior Addict Lip Tattoos retail at about €33.
