In the seventies

All kinds of magazines are telling us the seventies will be BACK in a big way in 2011, but I think the seventies never really went "out". I mean, the silhouettes are elegant, quite modern and easy to wear with a bit of boho flair, so this is a decade that works for most "normal" people, not just the fashion experts. I love a bit of seventies from time to time, and after yesterday's sixties look inspired by Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker, I carried that inspiration a bit further  when I spotted my boyfriend's hat and wanted to wear it. Something that felt very Bonnie-esque to me (can't you just imagine her putting on Clyde's hat and looking utterly adorable and chic?), and I wanted to wear trousers again since it has been like at least a month, and to emphasize the androginy. I also wanted to wear my bird print blouse, the sister to my cat blouse (both salesbuys from Zara), so the end result felt very seventies. Especially when I added my beloved clogs.

I've spent my day watching old movies to prepare friday's exam. Not the worst day to do some cramming, right? Today I saw Metropolis, Citizen Kane, Un Condamné à mort s'est échappé, The Kid and bits of The Magnificent Ambersons and probably other stuff I've already forgotten about. I absolutely loved all of it. I don't talk about it as often as I should, but I'm quite the movie buff. My brother works on filmsets in the lighting department, and he has directed a couple of shortfilms as well. He has been really passionate about film since he was like fourteen years old, and he always dragged me along to all kinds of alternative classics so that passion probably rubbed off on me. Citizen Kane had been on my to see list for AGES so I was glad a friend helped me get my hands on a copy so I could finally check it out. I loved it, by the way, a total recommendation! Gorgeous cinematography and great writing. Do you like classic movies?

Anyway, I love today's look, I hope you will too!

  3. That sweater is Fab. You are right. Despite the fact that the 70s was only 40 years ago, we still wear very similar styles.
