Almost every day I find myself going through my Puerto Rico memories like they're scenes from a picture book. Stepping out of an airconditioned building and feeling the heat envelop me, not caring about the sweat because the sun is shining and the living is easy. The sea always being just around the corner. The air feeling so open because there isn't a cloud in sight and I'm being pulled forward by the stiff sea breeze. Gorgeous evenings when the palm leaves are black outlines against a dark blue and lilac sky backdrop, and the only sound I hear is the waves washing on the shore. Looking over at my boyfriend like "is this even real? how did we get here from where we were just a week ago?".

I have only discovered last year how amazing travel can make you feel. I'm very stress prone - not in a way that cripples me, but I always have a huge list in my head of things that need checking, fixing, preparing, finishing. It makes me a very efficient human being, but it also makes me feel so full and tied down, all the time. Travel is just about the only thing that really frees up that space in my head, removing the strings that tie my limbs down to what still needs seeing to. I feel lighter when I'm travelling, like the world is mine and the road to more of it is wide open.

Also, just about any type of outfit looks better when you're at a place like sunny San Juan. Case in point: these pics. This poppy print sundress was simply made to swan around in Condado.

  1. This dress is GORGEOUS - I love the print and the open back!
I know what you mean about having a stress filled life (not necessarily being stressed all the time, but always have things that need doing and thinking about), and definitely agree with you that travel tends to empty your head of these things. I think that's the reason I always want to return to pretty much everywhere I've been on holiday, even if it wasn't a particularly nice area or weather, the way I felt when I was there is what I'm trying to get hold of again. Sigh, want to go on holiday now!

  2. YES! I always get "homesick" for places I've been on holiday as well. It's wanting to return to the feeling, and also how much I grow attached to a new place that I've called home for a little while. It's like I've left a bit of myself there, so now it's "mine" in a way!

  5. JA! Ik ben echt niet geboren voor België. Ik voel me veel meer in mijn habitat op warmere plaatsen. Ik voel me zo gelukkig dat ik sinds vorig jaar eindelijk de financiele ruimte heb om een stukje van de wereld te zien!
