I always hate it when bloggers are all "yaaaay, fall, pumpkins, coats, boots, mustard, oxblood!" but I really can't deny that I sort of look forward to bringing out my cold weather clothes again. Just to get my inspiration going again.

To tell you the truth, I feel very "meh" about taking pictures and blogging outfits sometimes. I don't really inspire myself these days. I wonder why people would be interested in what I wear, since I often feel like I mostly just wear clothes that look cute together instead of "looks" that are on trend or shed a new light on style, you know? I've never been a fashion-trailblazer, but now that I've found some stability in my style and really know what I like, I'm not searching for the next cool thing anymore like in the old days. Is just wearing clothes worth blogging about? I know that it used to be.

Blogging has become less and less casual and real however, and more and more like magazines. I totally understand people wanting to see pretty pictures of inspiring outfits in fanciful locations, but it does make it a bit daunting to seriously combine style blogging with a full time regular job. Non-bloggers probably underestimate the amount of time, effort and means that goes into putting together a blogpost of the caliber you see on the most popular style blogs. I don't aspire to that level of blogging, but if you're sort of mid level, and you've been there for quite some time, it can be difficult to keep inspiring and motivating yourself. I remember reading blogs that featured normal outfits back in the day, but those blogs seem few and far between these days.

I'd love to hear from my readers though. Do you still enjoy reading my blog? Do I sometimes inspire you? Because hearing that would mean a lot to me, motivation-wise! Maybe I come across needy or insecure, but it feels kind of redundant and vain to keep pumping my content into the world wide web if no one actually enjoys it! :-D

Long story short: yaaay, fall! lulz.

  1. Love this outfit and love your style -I feel I can relate to it. I've stopped following some bloggers that I don't feel are real and are all about consumerism. Keep doing what you're doing! :-)

  2. I definitely feel that 'just wearing clothes' is worth blogging about - in essence that's style to me? I think you're one of the few bloggers I follow that dresses like I would love to dress.

You do inspire me - I just spend the last 30 minutes wondering if I can allow myself to buy that sweater you're wearing...

  3. I just started reading your blog, and I find it very refreshing amongst the sea of bloggers who literally just blog for a living. There's something much more relatable about someone who works and studies and for whom fashion still matters. I teach for a living, and sometimes work 10-11 hour days. Yet, I still care about fashion, although I could care less about being "on trend." I leave that to the teens I teach! Your blog provides inspiration for those 'blah' days when I am uninspired. And really, don't worry about taking photos in fanciful locations! It's how you put things together that I think your readers care about.

  4. Hi Annebeth, You are actually one of the most inspiring bloggers to me. You have a true style of your own, although you may not always see that yourself! I like your blog so much better than for example those of girls who just wear black and white and all the stuff that tha bloggarz wear.. Honestly, they all look the same nowadays. Your style is a lot more refreshing than you may think:). I also love your posts on working, feminism, body image etc. Of course you shouldn't be blogging if you just don't feel good about it anymore, people change and life changes, but I think you have many more readers who may not comment often but who would be very sad to see you go!

  7. Hi Sasha, thank you so much for taking the time to leave this thoughtful comment. I do like blogging, but it's important to keep track of why we do things, I think. Especially if something takes effort and time. Hearing from my readers is truly motivating!

  8. thank you so much! I also love "real" style and "real blogs", but I feel like they used to be more succesful and more plentiful. Most bloggers seem so professional these days, and I'm a perfectionist so if I don't meet that standard (which might exist only in my mind) I sometimes think "why bother" :D thanks for the motivation!

  9. that's SO sweet! About the sweater: as you can see on the webshop, it comes with a weird chiffon layer that probably works for some people, but I found it much more versatile without it so I just hacked it off which was no problem since the seam is hidden. Apart from that, it's a GREAT sweater, very soft. I wear it all the time. If you want it to fit like it does on the model, I'd get your own size or smaller. I'm wearing a medium because the small was sold out when I wanted to order :/

  10. You do and always will inspire me babe! But I totally know how you're feeling, cause I feel the same way. These days it al seems about more, bigger and expensive. The real feel of blogging is fading away, though I enjoy those fantasy lives sometimes,it's also nice to see that there're real bloggers out there too.
    Keep on going!

  11. Same here!

  15. I've only been reading your blog for a few months, but it is so refreshing to see someone who rewears items in their closet and isn't always buying something new or wearing a piece of sponsored clothing. Because that's how normal people dress! Your blog is so down-to-earth and genuine, please keep it up!

  16. I always enjoy reading your blog! You're a real person wearing real clothes and those are the type of people I like to follow. Your style is your own and I like seeing what you put together. Plus you usually have something good to say too! I read and I enjoy!
    Also yay fall!

  17. I know I haven't commented in a long time, but I'm definitely still here and still enjoying your blog! I've loved seeing your transitions through the different types of clothes you wear, and I'll be around reading as long as you're blogging :D I definitely agree with the things you're saying though - blogging has changed recently, and I'm still in that mid range that doesn't want to go "professional" (at least with my own blog, that's just me still), but it's hard to carry on sometimes. I wrote about this general topic recently, and from the responses I had, a lot of people feel the same way too. For me, I was stuck in a rut of trying to be a perfectionist in my posts, feeling like I had to have something revolutionary to say or photograph to make a post worth it, so I'm trying to throw that off again and post when I want to and when I feel like it rather than trying to be the "best", and I'm already starting to enjoy it more again and have loads of ideas coming in all of sudden.
And final note, love the outfit - I completely ruined a skirt I had similar to this last year and now I'm sad because it looks awesome on you!

  18. Your blog is one of my favourites. I enjoy your fashion posts, but what's really endeared you to me are your real life/opinion/fangirly kind of posts - I'm not interested in a pristine high-fashion lifestyle that's totally unachievable, I follow you because I think you're funny and clever, and likeminded. Just blog whatever is on your mind! :-)

  19. I think style on the level you're at is so much more attainable for me. I think you look chic and have a certain style that I really like. While some of those very fancy blogs are nice to look at, they don't inspire me because I can't afford any of that stuff. I like your mix of classic, trendy and unique. Keep it up!
