Ah yes, October is here. Whenever the month of Halloween rolls in, I get way into spooky dressing and a slightly Goth aesthetic. I wasn't a goth in high school, but I do adore their vibe of brooding drama. I found this little dress in the back of my closet: it used to have a full black lining which totally ruined the prettiness of the lace, so I just ripped out the lining and wore it with tights and a bra. A tiny wee bit risqué, but that just keeps things exciting, non? The fur is a Zara suede-faux fur vest I'm wearing inside out to keep warm. Lace over a bra doesn't exactly keep you toasty, ya know.
I think the secret to working the Goth look without feeling like you're wearing a costume, is to either work with lots of different textures or shades, or go for a silhouette that's a mix of Goth aesthetic and another style or trend. I did some Gothic inspired outfit last year too if you're interested! Here and here. First one is a good example of working Goth without going all black (different shades), while the second one is a bit classy-Blair Waldorf apart from the Goth vibe (mix of styles).
Like my green saddle bag? I do! The perfect color for both S/S and F/W, and it goes with everything. I got it from Trésors du Sud, a new webshop startup that works hard to offer its costumers handmade, high quality leather handbags in rich colors that bring a bit of Mediterranean flair to your outfits. It comes in a range of colors and a smaller size as well, so go check it out!
That green is superb! Is it called a saddle bag? I always thought it was called a bandolier? :D
ReplyDeletebandolier sounds french, I know it as a saddle bag or zadeltas :D https://www.google.be/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=saddle+bag&oe=utf-8&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=2M5xUPDgEcnC0QX92IHACA&biw=1366&bih=647&sei=2s5xUKGRG4Wb1AWY74CIBw LOOK! 7th pic is exactly like mine! :D
ReplyDeleteYes it's a french word but a lot of french words are bastardized. In french this is also called a "cartouchière" as in: bullet-bag. It's still used by hunters.
ReplyDeleteI googled that shiz and it doesn't show me ANY search results that match my bag yo :D it's a saddle bag and that's that!

I knew I could always count on you for outfit inspirations! I have a similar lace dress but it's white, kind of reminds me of Courtney Love.
