Spring Cleaning

Whoa! Big changes! I sort of thought "DUDE I'm wearing mittens in my banner. MITTENS. And I've been wearing summer dresses the past week. WHAT IS UP YO" so I sort of changed EVERYTHING. I guess that's how I roll. I REALLY love certain bits (the colors, the clean-ness, the buttons in pretty pastels) and I'm not sure about other stuff (the banner).

What do you think? Feedback! I need it! Your love and adoration! I crave it! Tips? I could use it!

  4. Like I said in my previous comment, before you'd posted this: I like the new lay-out and banner. Though I have to admit I fear I'll get tired sooner of this banner than I did with the previous one. Maybe it's because of the background: you are way more into blue than I am.
The buttons on the right hand side (along with a very clear image of your logo!) somehow give me a more organised feeling and I love that :). It's also nice to see you included links to topics that aren't about fashion yet make up a large part of your blog (below the banner). I do agree with Rini: why not put "Places I've been" under a separate link, just like the "Features" and "More reading"?

[BTW: I've never mentioned it, but some "Features links are broken: "Standaard.be 2" ; Fashion Collision ; haven't checked the rest but I think they're fine.]

  5. I like it! It's very Spring like, which is perfect since I'm going into Autumn and need all the pastels I can get!

  6. fixed the broken links! and I put the places I've been on my page because I felt like it was a nice way to give some attention to some of my favorite blogs. I contemplated it but I thought that when I'd put them under a page on top, no one might check them out.. Or was I thinking wrong?

haha and I can always change the background colors once in a while! :-D I like the blue though! it's so VINTAGEY

  7. i'm actually quite fond of the banner - the striking blue is lovely with your head scarf. :)
the only thing i can think of that i dislike (if that's even the opinions you want....oops!) is the font for your header. it's not my favorite, but it's totally up to you of course!

  8. Darp, I checked the other links - too much spare time on my hands because my theme of the week seems to be 'procrastination'. Apparently these bloggers quit: "maranwetelrunya" ; "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" ; "Manuelita" ; "styleforecasts".
Albeit I only quickly looked at the photos, I have to say it was a fun trip down memory lane. You truly stand out among the others, Annebeth.
It's good to see you back to your healthy energetic self again; changing the lay-out of your blog must have taken quite a bit of time and effort, you can take pride in the result. Hope your thesis progresses smoothly! ;).

  9. Yup, I noticed you fixed them already :D.

About the banner: it's your blog, choose whatever colour you like most. You and your sis are into blues and greens and I'm more into reds and yellows ( and purple). I don't even know it's the background colour that I'm not impressed with...maybe your winter banner was way too awesome and now nothing compares to that one :D. I can't put my finger on it, but somehow this one doesn't pop out like all your others did. But hey: Summer is on its way...I'm expecting plenty of bright and fierce pictures, with prints and your newly found fondness of eye make-up. In other words: heaps of inspiration for another banner ;). The 'softness' of the current one will grow on me, don't worry.

If you had linked to your favourite blogs like you did with the rest, I know of one person who would have checked them out: me! Some people want to have everything within reach at the same page and others (like me) don't like to scroll. You can't please everyone...you just asked for feedback and that's what I provided. Regardless of my opinion about 'organising', it says a lot about you that you display OTHER people's blogs on your main page and 'only' link to articles about YOURSELF: putting the spotlight on your friends is really sweet (and rare in this "me me me" society).

  10. I like the banner a lot! The colors are lovely for the spring and summer, but more importantly, I think the look captures the vibe of your blog quite well. Here's my only nit-picking thought: the links under the banner? On my screen, the pink seems just a shade or so off from the pink of your headscarf in the banner photo. I think that if they matched, it would be lovely. On the other hand, that might be the kind of thing NO ONE but me would ever notice. But overall, quite pretty changes!

  11. I love, LOVE the redesign! Everything looks great!

  12. Super like the fun colored buttons & the banner is great for spring BUT I kinda love seeing your pretty face up there!

  13. After some annoying power outages and having to visit your blog several times just long enough to view the banner and coloured circles (before I could read or write anything, I was out again)...I have to say the banner DID grow on me. The new lay-out is indeed perfectly colour coordinated with the banner-photo. If I were you, I wouldn't change a thing: this breathes Spring :).

There's an easy solution for the scroll-lazy folks like me: MORE COMMENTS FROM VISITORS! The longer the comment section, the more you see of the list "Places I've been" (and in my case that means: the more likely I will click on some of the listed blogs). So everyone knows what to do now: show Annebeth that 'love and adoration' :D.

  14. I LOVE THIS! I wish I was computer savy and could redo my own blog, I'm computer handicapped sometimes.
    I especially love this banner

  15. De banner is gewoon geweldig, super mooi gedaan. Net zoals de hele lay out!

  17. I love your new header and buttons! all the pastels are perfect..

  18. Loving the polka dots and colour scheme! the pic in the banner is ok, but not 'WAUWZA! LOOK AT THAT!!', but that could be just me ;) And since my own layout and banner needs some work too, do not listen to me :p
    xo,

  20. hoera pastelkleurtjes & de banner is net kei goed!

  21. actually, I always do these sorts of things on a whim! I did it last night in maybe two hours, an hour and a half? I suddenly wanted a change and BAM I did it, haha. I'm the world's least organised person. But I'm good at quick decision making! :-D

thanks for your super thorough feedback! I already cleaned up my blogroll a bit, and I'll do some more work on it now!

I think I'll keep my blogroll on my main page for now, because I personally am a fan of scrolling.

about the banner: the last one popped more, and that went with the patterned background. Now I'm going for more of a clean, soft look, and I think this serene banner goes with that. But I like to change things up every once in a while so who knows what will be next! :D

  22. Don't worry, I don't mind you giving your honest opinion! I've had this font for a while now and I really like it, I think it's classy :D But I'm not the hugest fontsnob so I'm not THAT picky. I haven't found one I like more!

    ReplyDelete
  23. yes that does depend on your screen probably, I hardly see a difference but I'll try and make the color even more alike as I didn't really try before :D

    ReplyDelete

But that's just my humble opinion.

  26. Love the banner...a lot and the colors of your "social" buttons on the right, but I believe that they are too big and take up extremely lots of space!
oh and I see you're on Pinterest...how nice!!!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love it! ;-)

  29. Okay, first of all: I love the change! And it's really fresh and everything. Esp. those pastels are great. But I do think the TSD Logo is a bit to hard next to all of this pastels. Maybe I'd leave it out and put the colorful "bubbles" higher so that they can harmonize with the colors in your banner. If you know what I mean ^^
And if I had to be picky, I'd say that your neck looks just a little bit weird in this banner. This is not an offense I love your neck, but this picture doesn't flatter it very well. Also that little strand of hair goint out of your bun reminds me of Alfalfa.

But in general I really like your new layout and it's just criticism on a high level. Aka very picky.

    ReplyDelete
  30. hahahaha hilarious feedback :D I like the strand of hair! I LIKE MY ALFALFA HAIR YO :D and I think my neck looks elegant! ballerina esque! :-D I agree about the harshness of the logo, I might have to put it somewhere else but it is important so I think it should be prominent... Maybe different colors?

  31. btw I'm way more into pinks than into greens :D

  32. I really like it, it looks all very clean and tidy but I think the buttons on the right are a tad too big for my taste. The banner is great <3 I'm trying to make one for my blog but I'm an illiterate when it comes to banner making, may i ask how did you do it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just made them smaller though, haha, they were even bigger at first! :D I like them big, they are like an accessory to my blog :D

I just pick a picture I like and upload it to whatever photo editing program I use, and then I cut it or broaden the canvas to the width of my blog, edit some colors (it's way easier than it sounds, I just muck around basically) and add the text over it, all within gimp (free dupe for photoshop). And then I upload et voila!

  34. Heel mooi gedaan! De banner is super cool!

  45. The way I see it you had and maybe still have a "pink phase", but compared to me you are more into blues (come on, your navy style!). That seems to be the hue you you always fall back on as THE favourite one after a while. Variety is key though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. yes blues but definitely not greens! I have never been into greens, it's more blues as a base and reds, oranges and pinks to play off the base of blue. And also whites and creams! the colors of the dutch flag, haha :D

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  48. The greens were about your sister ;).
Every time I see a close-up of yours and her face, it amazes me how much you two look alike. Same eye shape, lashes, brows, lips...and recently: goofy face :D.

  49. <3 the banner!

    ReplyDelete
  50. :D so well, the most important thing is that you like your alfalfa hair :D
And I think the grey shade looks much better <3
