Redrum

Another picture overload day but I really like my outfit again and I picniked it again because it totally works with my stylez. Hope you like it!

This dress. One euro. Do I have to tell you again why I love T2 vintage with every fibre of my being? It is a sixties schoolgirl marvel and I bought it for one euro. Man oh man, everyone who likes slightly retro fashion HAS to try thrifting. At first it feels dodgy and smelly and like a big hassle for little pay off, but once you get into it it is seriously like treasure hunting. I went for sixties retro with a modern, edgy touch in the chelsea boots and the crochet tights, and I absolutely love the end result. Very me! And I can't get over the white cuffs and collar.

One euro.

I just watched the last episode of the fourth season of Mad Men. Apart from the gorgeous outfits, I was particularly moved by the storyline. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone so I won't get into the nitty gritty, but I don't agree with all the negative opinions floating around concerning Don's lovelife. I totally see what he sees. Another round of superb casting on behalf of the creatives of Mad Men, because we feel a familiarity and acceptance from a character that has had little screentime. And again, perfect writing. The scene between Don and Peggy right after the big announcement, and the one with Peggy and Joan: perfection. Btw if they ever do a Mad Men spinoff, I want it to centre around Joyce!

I adore her face and her attitude. And her face licking.

If I could give all my readers three pieces of advice, it would be to

  • watch Mad Men
  • go thrifting
  • and cook your own food

All of these make my life so much better.

dress: T2 (vintage)
tights: Pimkie
boots: ASOS
pin, coat: H&M
beret: old

  6. I used picknik for my blog banner, and went effect crazy. I think I used vintage AND cross process, which ended up being awesome. I always take the rounded corners off the vintage effect, though, because I feel it's a bit distracting.

Amen on thrifting, we're kind of matching today with secondhand red plaid items. I'm working on an etsy store to sell vintage, because I love thrifting so much but can't keep everything I want for myself. It's a much better addiction than regular shopping, because you get stuff no one else has and it's much cheaper!

  7. The fact that you bought a 60's dress for one euro makes me want to up and leave North America based on that fact alone. So amazing!!! You look precious in your red dress and red trench... and you should probably wear berets forever.

  8. DAMN girl, that is one thrift find all right! Congratulations. That is so fucking cute. I'm jealousss. And it even lives up to your fetish!

The picnik filter does totally work with your sixties dress. Cute :D I like it!

  9. yep and that’s what I love about you: you have a distinctive style and you are consistent. The red jacket is fabulous; it brightens up my morning (in België is dat wel eens nodig). The patterns of the dress is so adorable. That pin is fabulous. Love the combination of it with the white hat. The white hat gives it a little bite of a Paris vibe. So many influences, but so well done. Love the fact that you have finished it off with black tights and boots.

Thanks for your comment, and remember: never stop smiling, it’s your most fabulous feature

  17. I just figured out yesterday why your style is so bitchin' awesome and this outfit proves it. You wear things in a way that feels so natural and yet so well put together it feels familliar, like when you read a really great passage out of a novel that gives you chills, and then it seems like that phrase as always been around. It just re-wrote the universe.

Your style is a sleeper hit. It's comes off as quiet but strikes the nerve just so, like a bit rush of perfection and so alters how I think I should see the world. In this case in a strong cardinal red, sweet 1960's shifts playing flirting with directional patterns. ivory coasting on a color block of relief in the hat and collar. Now the next thing I'll be doing is feel this latent urge to dress in red, red, red, as if it were the most logical thing in the world.

  18. Oh Annabeth, you just get cuter and cuter. I just got a 60s dress that in a blue checkered pattern. I need to get it altered a little smaller but it sure wasn't 1 euro!!! That is such a great find. I wish we could go thrifting together, I know we would have so much fun.
I've been really wanting to start watching Mad Men too. I don't that the TV channel but I could get it on Netflix.
What kind of food do you cook at home? I'm a vegetarian but Matthew eats meat and is never satisfied with my veggie only meals. I just got a cook book though and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes!
    Have a happy weekend.
    XOXO

  23. Love the pin, it's such a fun touch! I can't believe you got that dress for 1 euro, so good! There's a place in the next town from me where everything is $1, all the time. That's where I got the long floral skirt in my "I is for Ice" post. I LOVE BARGAINS!
I really want to start watching Mad Men, so many people have recommended it to me! Definitely a summer project, I feel like I don't have time for anything right now, haha.
And I wholeheartedly agree about cooking your own food!
